There may be no spoon, but there WILL / MUST be a book!  Others here who are held in regard have interacted directly with DCB and have confirmed that it will be finished.

I know I exist.  And I have met 1 other person in here in real life.  Maybe 2, forget who all is in this thread.

Anyway, doubt anyone wants to mess with me that much.

I’m real, but I don’t think anyone from the forum who has met me are here anymore. I’ve about given up on the book, keep checking in here occasionally like a crazy person though. I haven’t waited as long as many of you, either...

Only Lights Out actually made it to print from here(was also on at least one other forum too), right? Just so happens I met that author in real life and hung out for a few days backpacking in the woods but that was a long time ago. Great guy, cool daughter, wife and I enjoyed the trip. Bought multiple copies of that book for handouts, too.

Funny story follows:

When I met David Crawford I was standing under an easy up assembling web gear for extras at the Light's Out trailer shoot in a torrential downpour. (I was listed as the assistant weapons master on the call sheet) and there was this guy next to me doing the same.  So after a few minutes I asked him "How did you get mixed up in this?"

"I wrote the book."

I can still remember my buddy Rob laughing his a$$ off at my expense when he said that.  It's my FAL Daniel carries in the trailer.  He actually shoots me with it in the final cut.

It is my intent to help with that project any way i can...just as it is my intent to help this project any way I can.

Though the two styles are light years apart, to me they are just different styles of music that I like both of.

I’m definitely a real person. Though the poster above and I haven’t met, we share common geography and friends. I believe the book will come to pass.

I hadn't thought of it before now (and I don't think it's been mentioned), but "The Soldier's Son" would make an excellent 10 part mini-series.

I'll have my people call your people, DCB. Maybe we can do lunch!

Very true, and very well said. This story hit that note, original storyline and “it” storytelling. Not sure how to define “it,” perhaps the bright spark of magic that hooks you into the story, but this story has it.

David Crawford is a humble guy, for sure and he seemed mostly surprised by the Lights Out success.

The Soldier’s Son has a chance of great success, too. We shall see, in the meantime I’ll keep checking in in perpetuity. Then we’ll see how many copies I can push.

DCB,
I really don't care how this book is published, only that it IS published.  Ever thought of creating a PGP key-pair just for this book, posting up the encrypted e-book, and sending the key to folks who send you the requested $$?  Also, it could be copied onto Industrial Size Rolls of "John Wayne Paper" as another thought and read like a Scroll since that stuff doesn't perform its intended function, it might hold ink pretty well!

In that direction, lives a survivalist author.

And in that direction, lives a knife-making cat.

Visit either if you like, they're both mad.

"But I don't want to go among mad people."

You can't help that here, we're all mad.

"I'm not mad."

You must be, or you wouldn't be here.

Anyone in this thread read the "Winchester: undead" series by Dave Lund? It's a bit a prepper fiction wrapped in a zombie apocholyspe.

The last book was published recently.

Since so many of the cool guys have checked in, I will too.

I'm a real person. I've met DC, and I've talked with Stimpson on the phone.

DC and I sound nothing alike, so Stimpson should be able to verify that I do in fact exist.

I can verify that DC and Stimpson are who they say they are.

If anyone wants to know anything about DC, I'll share what I can.

DC,

In this, the fifth year of our patience, we humbly request that you publish The Soldier's Son.

Or at least print out enough copies for the faithful, here on the forum.

I think that would work too...

Hell, I'll buy the paper.

That's it.
