I just finished this trilogy by john ringo,I really enjoyed the first two books
but the third, wtf was ringo thinking, that was a steaming pile of shit I would not
have finished it if it wasn't the last book of the series

He spent 80% of the book on some weird quest to enlighten the reader on south american culture
and commets troubles with it and sexism then hastily set up the finishing space battle totally ignoring
some of the most prominent characters including the protagonist, very disappointing

That sounds like Ringo. He comes up with some good ideas but to me he just can't write a good story around them. I gave up on him a few years back.

I've read a couple of his books. I feel the same way about him that I do about Louis Lamour.

Formulaic, Trite.

Starts out with a great idea, good concept, lots of interest and then .... disappoint.

I would equate it to writing music. Ringo begins writing a flamboyant symphony and ends with banjos, a jews-harp and whiskey jug for the finale.
