Day of the Dogs

Day of the Dogs speculates on what would happen to our advanced society if a Solar Flare burnt out our electric grid and reduced us to an 1850's level of technology. The book explores how people and governments would react in the final week before the CME (Coronal Mass Eruption) impacts earth.

I have no idea whether it is worth reading. I read a few pages and it did not seem too awful, but that is all the time I was willing to put into it at present.

It is currently free for the Kindle edition. You do not need a Kindle to read it, as there is a free Kindle app download for all the common platforms.

Is there any sort of search or browse tool for free editions of books?

Specifically newer things...I know Kindle Store has a bunch of beyond Copywright stuff like Jack London, etc.

You can play around with the filters to find stuff, but it's a bit clunky. Seems like it's almost easier to find a free book, and then you'll see 'Other customers bought' section full of other free books in that genre.

Also, hit up kindle author on facebook. THey post free ebooks several times a day, across all genres. I've picked up several books using it.

This is von Clausewitz shit, total fucking war. I'm going to pull the whole thing down. I'm gonna pull the whole thing down. I'm gonna bring the whole fuckin' diseased, corrupt temple down on your head. It's gonna be biblical.

I use this.

http://www.ereaderiq.com/free/

I created this filtered RSS feed to feed me books that meet my filtering criteria.
http://www.ereaderiq.com/free/rss/US/ny/14/1/0/0/40000/300/158591011/
There are typically about 100-200 new free books each day that meet my criteria. I don't look at it every day as it takes too much time and I can't possibly read everything that I might want to. Just looking at it takes time.

I also use this. It lists the top 100 paid and free books every day.

I have gotten a number of free ones off this list.

There is also the Kindle daily deal. Usually higher priced books that go for 99 cents for a day. I have bought a number of them.

I made a page on my blog to hold the links. Kind of like a favorites page I can find no matter what computer I am on.

WTF, I think I paid like 1.99 on Kindle for this. The book was not bad, though I felt that it was rushed in some parts that should have had more detail. Im not a grammar Nazi so I dont pay attention to that stuff. But for the price that I paid it was worth my time, free is even better.

ETA: This is an old thread.
