I need a new scope! I currently shoot a Ruger American Predator in .308 so it has an 18" barrel. It wears a Falcon Menace 1.5-5 power scope. I love it but want more. These are the magnification options I am looking at:
1. 2.5-10 X 44
2. 4-16 X 44
3. 2.5-15 X 44

My marksmanship is well above average but I wont normally take a shot past 400 on game. I hunt heavy woods to well above treeline. Elk, deer, bear and Pronghorn.

What would you guys use?

Lastly, save the .308 is crap comments. Its not crap, its capable and this is a dead horse topic...

I have two Viper 4-16X44's mounted on my Hunting rifles.  One is an Ruger American All Weather Compact 308 and the other is a Tikka T3 7MM Rem Mag.  They are about perfect for the western hunting I do.

My general all around hunting scope choice is a VX3 3.5-10x. I may go higher for a varmint gun or lower for a PCR lever gun; but in general that will cover a large range of uses
