Got him the first day while sitting in my spike camp.  1.6 miles from my car, 4 heavy loads out including my camp. 3 full coolers of meat in the freezer now.

and the 2 sparring that I watched from 300 plus yards to the start the day:

I've never hunted CO but I decided to buy points for deer and elk there this year.  I figure a couple years of buying points and I should be able to put in for a decent hunt, right?

18 years/points for the good ones

My hunt was 9 points, because I had 9, from some other hunters I met you needed 7 to draw.  I will be back in 2016 most likely for a bow or gun hunt.  I'm going to put in for a point this spring and then in for the bow or 1st gun the following year.  Bow has always been exciting for me in 4 and I hunted the flat tops once near meeker and that was good to, but we didn't figure the elk out until the end of the hunt.  Never done a gun hunt, but I understand the pressure goes way up due to hunter numbers.  You may not see as many, but at 300 yards and in you own them.  Get to high altitude, as 1+ miles from your car, and use the topo maps to identify natural funnels.

I think area 61 is the area for big bulls, but I am sure there are others.

LOL, I'm at 16, but what you need seems to go up by one every year, so I'm always JUST short.

Will need a walker and O2 by the time I pull a tag.
