Going on a DIY fly-in hunt 29 sept. I have all my gear except a call,
any recommendations would be helpful. I would like to use the traditional
Birchbark but having a hard time finding one. Thanks in advance....

Make your own birch bark call when you get there. Roll it up in the shape of a funnel, pack it with sphagnum moss, and stick a couple small twigs in it to hold the moss together.

A plastic coffee can works.



Drill a small hole in the center of the bottom.

Tie a knot in some string and thread through the hole.

Put grass or moss in the can.



Pour some water in it and let it run down the string.

Pour out the excess.

Pull on string.



Have used 5 gal pails before.

They sound very deep.



It will work on any kind of container even cans.



Have cheated and bought some plastic/fiberglass ones.

I did same, but it was back in the metal coffee can days!
Picked up a Wayne Carlton tube call for cheap, sounds good, and actually fits in my pocket!
