They were offered before but this is the first time I am aware of that they are available online/over the counter for the general tags. These allow non residents to harvest bulls/bucks IIRC before you had to put in for the drawing for that. |

Is there a herd management problem? Just curious cause I could TOTALLY get down with a hunting trip to Montana. Probably with some friends and family like my dad and bro. If the license is 1k thats pretty cheap . It would be like the hunt of a lifetime for us.

You would be in the same boat as resident hunters that are stuck hunting public land or block management areas. Unless you know someone in Montana that owns land or hire an outfitter. In other words buy tag and good luck on your DIY Montana hunt. |

I grew up in Great Falls. I missed the qualification for a Nonresident native license. Last year I went up and hunted with a non-resident whitetail doe tag with my dad who still lives there. Southern NV doesn't hold a candle to Montana.

That price is ridonculous! Lucky for everyone else Wisconsin allows a first-timer a discount on their hunting tags. The western big game states really screw the non-residents over!

When I first hunted Montana in 1985, my non-resident license allowed me to kill one deer, one black bear, one elk, small game, non-migratory birds, and it included a fishing license.
It cost $300. I thought it was a lot of money at the time. |

My brother and I wanna hunt in montana!!!
BUT we've never been that far north and have no idea were to start(location, gear needed, require hunter safety course etc etc). Is that guide book in .pdf on the link a good read? I wanna watch the sun come up, listening to a elk bugling then shoot one. Hopefully they will do this 2013 |

If you have never been this far north or hunted in this type of environment or terrain, any books you can lay your hands on will be a good read. Whole different world up here and the more knowledge you gain the better off you will be. |

I thought the Yellowstone WOLVES have eaten most of Montana elk. Have most of the guides went out of business because of wolf ? |
