Thanks!

Not at this time.  Eventually we would like to add onto the house including the basement.  If we do that I would like to have a large cistern put in.

They're about full grown, feathers are almost all in!

Fiance is starting to beat some of the dents out, we're moving along on changing out the valve seals, about half done.  Have one spring retainer that won't break loose from the retainer locks.  Still haven't figured out a way to get that one apart.  Will hopefully have the valve seals finished up next weekend.  Next will be replacing brake components.

Funding for our "fun" projects is getting put on hold for a bit.  Just put a $1k deposit down on a pure bread German shepherd puppy, another $1k to go when we get him in September .

Dogs are the worst, but this is the time of year when foxes are teaching their kits to hunt.

Got tired of buying suet cakes for the birds so we started saving the trays they come in.  Made some this morning.  Equal parts Crisco and peanut butter then mixed in bird seed till it was awfully thick.  They're in the fridge now setting up, will report back on how the birds like them.

Beautiful, but humid, evening at the homestead.

My better half picking some bobules (sp?) off the lilys.  There are a couple bleeding hearts in there that didn't do so well.  She didn't realize they needed shade.  This spot is full sun.  This fall they will be getting moved and a bunch of hostas added.  Hemi the cat is supervising.

Gladiolas turned out great!  Next year we will be putting up some stakes and rope to hold them up better.  We had quite the variety in colors.

Pumpkins are taking over the yard!

This one is an Atlantic giant, it's a good 24" in diameter now.

This one is 18"

Not sure on this variety, they are short and flat but 14-18"

We have a few dozen this size.  Looking forward to carving pumpkins this fall!  Is it bad I want to carve prison bars into a big pumpkin then put the cat in it?

The last recipe I tried was really complicated and involved actual cooking.

Would love a simple one that they like and that is not bad for them.

Most hostas cannot take full sun.

Some varieties can take more than others.  But if it was killing the Dicentra, you may have too much sun for a lot of the hosta species as well.

Hmm, good to know.  The ones we got were from her mom.  They have been transplanted about 8 times.  They have taken them with them every time they have moved, been in full sun and full shade.  I think these things could survive a nuclear winter

We have them in pots now.  I'll set them out there for awhile before they get planted and see how they do.

The remaining two ducks are finally flying!  They haven't quite figured out landing yet though.

We have some more projects we are working on right now.  Years ago I built a huge cedar post bed frame.  We are in the process of building a smaller version for the dog.  Once we get further into it I will do a build thread in the DIY forum and post a link here.

That's a good idea...just harden them off a little..

Give them an hour of morning sun, then two, then an hour of afternoon sun (that's the worst) and build them up a little before you stick them in full hot all-day sun.

Well I think it's almost time for a new mower.  The old Cub Cadet is starting to have something break about every other time I mow the yard now.  Had to replace the tie rod ends the last time and the left side manifold pipe going to the muffler broke as well.

Looking hard at a Hustler X-One.  More mower than I need but as an engineer I absolutely hate how the residential mowers are built these days.  Should be getting a demo model out here to try later this month.  Anyone have any input?  Not brand loyal at all.  I want something that will last at least 10 years with proper care.

>25 hp

Hydraulic lift deck

54" deck, MAYBE a 60"

Nice big canister style air filter

Individual wheel motors not one common transmission

Prefer EFI

Cast iron spindle housings not Al

Fabricated deck
