Gotta love indiana.  Two weeks ago I was rolling the lawn in short sleeves, the lilac is budding out and they are now calling for up to 6" of snow this weekend

no enclosed cab?

They don't currently offer a cab on the 2 series.  Even if they did I wouldn't want one.  Will be used a lot in the woods.  Cabs don't typically work well in the woods from my experience.

Why not?

I'm thinking about a tractor with a cab for my acreage... which is mostly woods.
View Quote

Personally, our woods and the woods I grew up in are pretty thick.  Lots of low hanging branches that beat the shit out of the cab.  If you have a more open woods or want to keep everything trimmed back away from the cab it shouldn't be too bad.

It looks awesome!  Your yard is in great shape.

That landscape looks eerily like where we live.  Just a small bit flatter, but I see what looks like some gentle hills in the distance.
View Quote
Not really, just looks a lot better in the picture . Needs lots of leveling done to it and low spots filled in.  Hope to make a big difference in it this year.  If you go north of us it gets really flat in a hurry.  South of us is hilly as we are fairly close to the Wabash river.

We also have a new family member here at the funny farm.  Everyone meet Orion.  He's a Bernese Mountain Dog we got so Apollo would have a friend.  Had him less than a week and they are getting along great so far!

So we're still 3 months away from taking delivery on the tractor but I went and bought a bush hog . Deck is a little rough but nothing I can't fix.  $100

A friend is the sales guy at that that dealer and they wanted it gone.  Gearbox is like new, barely used, just sat outside.  I'll plasma out the bad sections and have a local shop laser me out 1/4" plate replacements and weld them in.  Might have $250 in it total when I'm done

Working on getting the switch wired in for the sprayer.  One nice thing about this mower is everything folds out of the way for easy access.

Weather was nice when I got home from work today so I went ahead and sprayed the yard.  Hit most of it with 2,4-D to knock down the dandelions, clover and violet.

Had a pretty productive Easter.  Fiance got 4 rose bushes planted along the front porch.  One in front of each post.  We will be planting some more glads in here as well and then mulching over them.

We have been having problems with the eve trough on the front porch overflowing during moderate to heavy rains.  The front porch is 60' long and drains about 1400 sq ft with only one 2"x3" downspout.  No where near enough.  While she was planting the roses I got another downspout installed at the opposite end of the porch.

I would like to think it looks a little better than the one that was already there.  I will get around to making it match after we finish up all of the mulch here.

The dogs got a chance to have some fun as well.  All in all a good weekend!

I really like the last picture !!

I feel you should have 4" gutters and downspouts on that. when we redid our roof last year I had roughly same amount of area and I told the company I was having issues with previous ones having same issue overflowing so we went with big boys have had no issues as of yet.

Thanks!

We have 5" "K" style gutters which are the small ones in that style which take the 2"x3" downspouts.  I would love to eventually go to the 6" K gutters with the 3"x4" downspouts.  Won't have any issues then!

We have been catching some sales and stocking up on bulbs to plant in the coming weeks as well.

So so far we have:

145 glads
3 dozen stargazer lillies
9 dinnerplate dahlias
3 Jacks elephant ears

Now we just have to figure out where to put them all . We will be doing an Arbor Day Society tree order here soon as well.

Plant them in groups, not in little rows.

Like...a group of three dahlia clusters.  A group of three stargazers,  ONE elephant ear behind whatever.

the glads, plant them in bunches...12-16 glads next to an elephant ear, etc.

You will like that much better than planting them in rows.

Down visiting my parents this weekend on their 40 acres in south east IN.  The emerald ash borers have killed every ash tree on the property.  The last few times we have gone down I've taken the 066 and put a few of the larger trees on the ground for dad.  He can't run a big saw anymore.  Once I get them down he can get them cut up with his smaller saws and cleaned up with the Bobcat.  Also fell some of the more complicated trees for him, leaning a lot, hollow, etc...

Yeah it sucks.  Lost most of the elms already and now all of the ash trees.  The local lumber company is taking most of the nice bigger ash trees that are recently dead.  He is having them take some other trees for timber management as well.

The backyard is finally starting to look good.  Still needs some fertilizer and 2,4-D.  The spots that are grown up are where dirt is piled up.  Will be taking care of those later this summer

We have an infestation of chipmunks/striped ground squirrels.  Been worried about one of the dogs breaking a leg in a hole while running through the yard.  Managed to get one of them while mowing tonight

And in order to balance the universe I rescued a baby rabbit and got it back in the nest.  I got their nest with the mower and this guy ran out.  Thankfully didn't hit any of them.
