Over the past several weeks I've been helping my Dad build a new shed.

Clearing and leveling

I missed digging the post holes and setting posts but here is setting the salvaged chicken house trusses. Clamp on forks and homemade pole.

Pretty work!  What size?  Salvage is the way to go if you can find it.  Probably saved a boatload.

The building is 36x50. Trusses came off a 35+ year old chicken house and needed some work but we are pretty happy with it.

Problem is if someone wants to barrow it they got to barrow the tractor too. I suggest cutting into 4 equal pieces and distributing over a longer distance.

Nice!  I've managed to snag from free AR400 from the local CNC laser/plasma company I give a lot of work too.

Side note, I've had some custom rolled AR500 ductwork quoted at work for a project, .  Not cheap

How long?  Make a driveway arch.  I scored a couple that are about 22 feet long, would like longer, but these were free. Should just be able to sneak out 14.5 feet over driveway with me, more if I can score a nice curved cedar log for the top.  I did just put up this scaled-down version yesterday. Finally finished the fence with the material I picked up earlier in this thread.

Didn't use the tractor,  though,  no loader.  Just had to lift it!

Out of a trap?
Yeah Jager pro with homemade panels.

Imagine 20 acres of nice Bermuda grass dissapearing a night. And when you repair it the next year pig weeds and Johnson grass taking over. And then there is how rough they make the ground cause they root so deep. Even though you drag it back down it's still soft and makes a depression. Then add in your quail and turkeys totally dissapear.

Oh and let's not forget the $1700.00 damage to a baler when the perfect size rock breaks the starter rollers chamber.  Or the back glass to a cab tractor.

And worse of all is all the wannabe hunters that can't hunt their way out of a paper bag that want to come and shoot a hog. Then they just don't understand why you would want to wipe out a hunting opportunity. And others want you to pay them to shoot one at a time.

Then there's the short bus riding land owners that want me to come trap their hog's and pay them to do it. But they don't want the good old boys on their property.

That's just the beginning of what it's like to have feral pigs.

That is absolutely amazing....not in a good way.  I know this is probably a stupid question, but is there any way to turn them into a marketable product, is is the meat just too different?  You'd think someone could make use of it.

Nope the state took care of that we used to ship them to Texas. I once got  $1,500.00 out of a boar with over 3" cutters. The outfitter told me he made  $3,500.00 on that pig.

We have donated them to the local senor citizens homes and the local nursing homes until they are tired of feral pig. So now they go into the composter until they decide they want more. It's to bad the schools can't use them. That was close to 400 lbs of meat went bye bye.

Yep. Was on an eradication team for about a year on a military installation because they were literally destroying ranges because they would dig up and tear up the wires, destroy target lifters, etc. love to eat them but I don't have any issues leaving them to rot in a field if I don't need them.

That sucks, but not unexpected. Government at its best.  I'd love to hear who they think they are protecting with that move. I've got to believe it's like and meat....if it's taken care of its good, and we all know there are people that need it.

It's a cash business with the lower class chasing them with dog's and votes. That's why the government protection is there yet given the false sense of they want them exterminated. But the cost for hunting insurance goes so high you can't afford it. But then the state makes a liability law if you let someone hunt for free your not liable.
And the state government is deffunding all state programs to get rid of the pigs. And this liability doesn't cover guiding hunters on state land. So if I was to charge you just to even cover my fuel expenses and you got hurt. I'm liable.

Now if you can figure that out you might be able to run for a government position.

Used the 1025R as a water wagon for the wife taking care of some plants.  She hand watered 27 new transplants (Azaleas & Rhododendrons) with a watering can refilled at the barrel,  then we pumped out the remainder of the barrel on a couple of beds with a general spray ...

There is a 12v bilge pump in the barrel, plugged into the 12v auxiliary port on the fender, controlled by the switch seen at the back.

I grew up in a small town in western MD, smithsburg.  Every fall, around the end of September, for around the last 40 years or so, is the a Steam and Craft show.  It's a great collection of vintage engines, not just lined up to show, but actually doing work.  The saw mill is by far my favorite thing to watch.  They also have a thrasher, a parade of machines, and awesome stew made in a huge iron kettle over an open fire.  It's been quit some time since I was in th area to att me, but it looks like I may be in the area this year.  I don't know how this adds up to other events, but it truly was one of the highlights of Autumn when I was growing up.  Thanks for reminding me to what I've been missing....
