Not really what I used my tractor for, but what I did FOR my tractor. I got tired of the tiny little toolbox that came with my Kubota. Sure, it was free. Sure it beats a sharp stick in the eye, but not much else can be said for it. It barely held what I kept in it, and wasn't the most organized to find the stuff that did fit. So, I got a hair up my butt today and decided I'd knock out a project. Enter the ammocan toolbox. I had a couple of these sweet ammo can organizers (link to them on amazon) I had first picked up when I put an ammocan toolbox armrest in my Ford Focus (the cheap plastic piece of crap broke, so I replaced it with two ammo cans. I was able to fit a car air compressor and a full set of tools in there!).

A bit of cutting, some welding (though the 3/16" flat probably wouldn't droop, I decided to put a 3/4" angle under it anyway), a rubberized coating (since it was the only black "paint" I had / could find), some Kubota Orange on the ammo can, pop rivet it on, and Bob's your uncle.

(The lid is in the garage drying from the 2nd coat of paint still)

Here is two of the trays (3 fit in a 50 cal ammocan) and the contents of the old OEM toolbox. You can see things will be MUCH easier to get to and much more can fit in there since a whole extra organizer will fit. Or I can leave the 3rd out and fit taller items in. I also took those bags out, they are the shear bolts for the snowblower. I also added a pair of channel locks underneath the (self adjusting) vice grips.

Guy I used to work for had a Steiger Bearcat 220... spent quite a few hours in that with a Krause Rockflex disc.  Can't imagine what the new ones are like nowadays.

I'm still trying to retrofit a buddy seat on my Farmall 806 without my wife getting pissed off at me.    My 17 month old boy LOVES tractor rides.

Nice!  How much did the repair end up costing you?
According to the wife, TOO much! But, she hates not having it, so there's that.

To replace the shaft in the pump, inspect, test (pump was good, thank God!) was $998. Ouch. About $330 of that was the shaft itself. The shaft the pump mates to was also bad so I spent $170 on that. Add in $12 for a seal, $18 needle bearing, $35 for new filters and $60 for 10 Gal of HyTran. I needed new locktite and tube of black hi temp silicone so there's a couple of more $. It's kinda like building an AR at this point. What's a few more $....

Anyway, put a good 5 hours on it Saturday and it seems to be as good as before she went down. Put a couple hours on it yesterday mowing too. Got the sunburn to show for it.

Used the bobcat to unload this trailer load of timbers,  going to be a barnyard /corral and driveway arch.

Didn't get a chance to snap any photos of the equipment,  but hoping to pick up a 3 point auger I've been looking at to save my back on 30+ holes!  Otherwise will have to rent an auger for the bobcat.

Rent the auger down pressure is nice. I have a Beltech and I love it but it being three point it's hard to level side to side.

Had to move some sheet metal out of the way of my shop covered storage addition.  Had to move the metal to prepare for some fill dirt.  Hydraulics are awesome!  No effort.

Moved the wood pile on the left side of the picture as well to get it out of the way for fill dirt but didn't get any pics of that.

Yesterday cut some vetch mix.

Tilled some hog damages from Last night.

Carried the offender to the compost pile.

Baled what I cut yesterday.

And wrapped the hayledge. You can barely make out the skidsteer boom. I was to lazy to get out and take the pictures.

No pics, but used my 1960s JD 4010 to right my neighbors little Kioti 30 horsepower tractor Sunday. He was mowing the ditch by the road and got a little too far in the steep embankment. Rolled it over to the left. Not sure exactly what his plan was as it's clearly steep there.

To say the ROPS and seatbelt saved his life would be an understatement.

He lost about 1/2 of his hadraulic fluid and somehow the throttle is stuck in low idle, but he's alive.

My tractor has a cab but no rollover protection, and it's a narrow front, so I'm leery where I take it.

Lesson learned, sometimes ROPS sucks when working around trees or in/out of the garage but it will save your life when necessary.

Trailered the 3038e out to the acreage today & got started on the first cutting of the year.  The 5' rotary cutter stays out there, so only had to move the tractor today. I've got a shelter & storage building out there, so it will stay out there most of the mowing year unless I need it back at the house to run the chipper or do some other specific job.  In most of the area cut so far, the grass was as high as the hood.

Thanks!   My wife's mother divided what remained of the family farm between the kid's as basically even sized chunks.  We got 20 contiguous acres that are a mix of wooded (some portions uncut for 50+ years?)  & fields plus a small pond. I cut roughly 8 acres worth to keep brush & trees from encroaching on the clear areas.  We don't have any plans to develop it, just maintaining at this point. Our house is about 12 miles away, set on about 4.5 acres, mostly wooded.

Mounted a Giant plate compactor to the T5. The idea was for pounding in fence posts. Yes, the loader is crooked... NH makes a shit loader for the size tractor.

Also, a plate compactor proved to be a bad idea. It will shake the machine apart in short order, so off to to ponying up for the hammer style. Fun project though.

How many HP and how well does it handle that tall grass? It's fun watching the critters scamper off when the grass is that tall. Apparently all I can do this year is get the BX stuck.   First time I used the FEL to get out.  This time I had to tie the ATV to a big a$$ tree and use the winch to pull the BX out.

According to Deere, the 3038e is about 30 HP at the PTO (37 HP @ engine) & has no problem running the 60" cutter through grass that high.  EDC is EDC ...

FWIW, our 2013 1025R FILB  (factory installed loader/backhoe) was $19,150  before tax.  That price included about $750 in rebates (loader & backhoe qualified for a two implement rebate).  Not sure how much prices have changed since then ...

I think the backhoe runs about $5k.

My understanding is they are selling out immediately on all the 1 and 2 series SCUTs so there is no reason for them to discount.

Yeah,  I've been getting quite a bit of use out of the welder lately.  I also had to weld a couple of the same jacks I used on the blade onto the back of my trailer.  When I would load the tractor,  especially with the tiller attached,  it would get a little closer to picking the back tires of my truck off the ground than I was comfortable with.  When I loaded it last week I set the new jacks about 3" off the ground so the trailer could still squat a little,  but it definitely made it feel much more stable for driving on and off.

That's why I like to use standing ramps instead of the slideout ramps.  Easy to add a "foot" to them to reduce trailer stress and tow vehicle rear tire lift while loading and unloading.

There was someone in our four wheel drive club that had a dually going down a hill one time because he lifted the rear tires - unloading the parking brake - while loading a small tractor.  Yep, no standing ramps, no foot.

A rehab thread will be just as interesting as "what did you do with your tractor today". I'll subscribe to it!

I'll have a weld write up just for you soon. My plate compactor idea didn't work out, but I found a nitrogen hammer for pounding posts, I'm buying. The same pounder is $4k for an excavator mount and $9k for a skidsteer mount.  I'll be saving about $3.5k and build my own mount to get it on the tractor..

Well the 7600 blew a seal for the brakes and now pours fluid out.....so lil blue got to cut grass today, surprised me how much it ate and didn't give me any crap. I know it's not the right mower for what I was doing, I just needed something to cut the tops out so I can spray it then turn dirt

Then I fixed a few slop holes in the path, they were getting rather deep lol

45 horse? 55? That's probably going to be my next size range. Fun fact of the day. The company I work for makes the loader valve for that thing.
