I waited to post until I was sure the issue was resolved.  This is the second trailer load of wood I've cut.  Now, once properly tensioned, I can cut a full tank, tighten the chain 1/4 of a turn, and get back to cutting.

Now, I've gotta go round up all the bars and chains that went slack too fast and start using them again.
