I'm specifically in need of some winter clothing to wear when I'm outside working with livestock. I am looking for a coat I can wash when needed and will hold up to that and farm use.

I'm a huge fan as well. Retailers carrying their outerwear would have closeout deals at the end of the season. I have jackets from them that are close to 10 years old and are holding up just fine.

It's pretty much a std. around here.

Check the labels though. Carhart has a cheaper line made overseas, that isn't much better than the generic knockoffs like Walls and the TSC stuff.
The cheaper stuff doesn't hold up as well, and neither do the knockoffs, but still work darn well, considering they get washed to death before they get worn out most times.

The better Carhart coats get worn until they are darn near shredded into useless. Most guys HATE to think about parting with the things. It's kind of funny what we get attached to.
