Most all cranks are an Achilles' heel. You're better off getting a smaller, USB solar charger and power bank, to be honest.
The Crane emergency radios might have an USB port on them, for charging stuff, but it can't be that great. Chris |

...the hand crank will give you 10 minutes of low light for 1 minute of cranking, so you would not want to crank enough to charge a phone. We have a couple of these and and like them. |

A plastic crank, half a dozen plastic gears and a spinning dynamo (containing several bearings and perhaps a set of brushes) is a sure-fire recipe for mechanical failure. Solar, on the other hand, is ridiculously simple - no moving parts. |
