So, I am finally getting all of my hunting lisences soon, and since I will commonly be hunting with my older brother and his friend I was thinking it would be wise for me to bring an emergency field med kit, so what should I put in it? I will commonly be hunting with a bow, shotgun, and rifles. I already plan on having a SOFTT touniqet and a few packs of quickclot, what else should I include aside from other basics like gauze, band aids, med tape, and a sewing kit?

EMT shears some ACE bandages and SAM splints wouldn't be a bad idea either. Always have duct tape as well. If you're camping out for a week or so I'd take the sewing kit. If you just leaving the house for the day I'd leave it.

Sounds like you are already bringing more than enough.

Not necessarily first aid, but comfort too:  ibuprofen, throat drops, alcohol pads, hand warmers, whistle, tweezers.

My family and I are big into survival gear as well as tips or life hacks while surviving. A friend got me hooked on following this survival blog through www.gun.rodeo, and they go through a lot of topics that we've found extremely helpful.

Here's a few survival links:

What is your training level? Make your kit comparable to that.

If you are just concerned about accidents with weapons and knives I would look what the military carries which seems like you already did.

You are going to want to stop bleeding the SOFT is an excellent choice carry at least two, forget quick clot and get some Celox Gauze, some Israeli Bandages and some sterile gauze to pack.

For sucking chest wounds a non needle option for decompression is a SAM Chest Seal with Valve, make sure you get some other sealing type bandage for the exit.

Airway management is also a concern look for a Nasopharyngeal Airway and a small pack of lube, spit works to.

Bring a space blanket to keep someone warm to help with shock.

But on top of all this make sure you have a way to get help, the "golden hour" is what you need focus on after initial treatment of an injury severe enough to warrant using those things listed above. Cell phone, beacon or what ever.

Every thing else like a splint can probably be improvised and a boo boo kit will suffice for bangs and minor cuts.

a small bottle of whiskey or everclear thrown in can help in certain situations and is not in any pre made kits

If you get a nasty cut, you can use it as anticeptic.

and when someone has to suture up that nasty cut you can drink some and aleive some pain
