Thanks for jumping in!  Heres my question......just bought an old lantern, says red winged wheel #350 on it and made in Japan.  Know absolutely nothing about it and usually I don't buy stuff like this on a whim but had to have it lol it's in excellent shape as far as paint and no rust.....but the globe is broken slightly........tell me oh wise lantern experts, what the hell did I buy?  Oh yea, guy wanted $20.....I told him $12 got It for that.......and can I get an original globe anywhere?

Kirkman lists the globe, but it doesn't list it in stock or not, so you could give them a call or email them to see if they have it or can get it.

Cool!

I wonder if Lehmans hardware might have a globe that would work. I know it's a pain, but I bet they would let you send it to them and check it against other ones they have.

Almost looks like a Feurhand globe might work.

I have a Fuerhand. It's TINY! I really like it, though. The last order I made from Kirkman was two red Dietz #80 lanterns.

Next time I may go wild and get a couple brass lanterns.

the way the handle is attached makes it look more like a Feuerhand copy rather than a Dietz copy...

I bought 2 of those deitz special brass lanterns, I like them a lot.

Caveat-  I learned from hitting antique stores.  the brass lanterns will crack the top parts because the heat cycles will embrittle the brass.  The heat sheld, the top that holds the globe, etc.   Steel doesn't have that issue.

I have that exact lantern.  Used kerosene in it.  Doesn't burn too bright.  It was something my grandfather had hanging in his garage.  That was over 30 years ago

It still works.!.

Ok fellas got her all cleaned up and found a new globe :)

Filled her up and runs great......but I am a little puzzled about something, when I light the wick and globe is up the flame is normal and burns great.......as soon as I slowly put the globe down the flame turns to a u shaped, crescent, horse shoe shape.......tried two different wicks, same thing both times.........as soon as globe goes up flame looks normal.  WHY?

It's most likely the airflow around the wick. Cut a small chamfer on the corners. About 1/8" per corner. Then relight it and see how it looks.
