It's been a LONG time but I saw a sterea built in a FAT 50 once. Speakers on the sides, car stereo wedged in the middle. It was a well done project. Hook it up to a car battery and play!

There was a guy in the HAM forum who built a really cool emcom box out of one.

I saw a thread of a guy that made one into a small little car camping stove that used charcoal or wood, it was pretty neat.

i made some "bug out ammo cans" out of a few. i don't plan on bugging out, but i figured if i ever did have to leave in a hurry there was no way i could snag all my ammo. the result was 4 ammo cans with nearly identical amounts in each can of the common calibers that i might be leaving with: 5.56, 7.62x39, 7.62x51, 9mm, .45, .22, and 12ga. not alot mind you, but enough so i had something
there's a list in each of the contents also ![]() |

The wood stove was awesome, I suggest making 5!
Heres an idea, sell me some at a reasonable rate! |

I have modified a few .50 caliber ammo cans to be lockable. I use one as a tool box when working outside.

Actually, my dad gave me a couple big 5.56 ammo cans he had from buying cigars from Nicaragua IIRC. They just taped a label around the outside of the can and filled it with cigars. |

I made a grill out of an ammo can. This is her maiden voyage, but the plan is to use it this fall for shore lunch while fishing. I stripped the can to bare metal, and repainted it inside and out. Looks almost original, and functions great. Just a few charcoal briquettes is more than enough to keep it nice and hot.

You can use a pair of 50s as stilts for painting. Just put your feet in the handles.
