Just picked up this pack from
www.SupplyCaptain.com:
http://www.supplycaptain.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_ID=621&ParentCat=66.
Will do a full review later on, but first impressions are:
Made by AITES; Mfr's tag inside the front pocket.
Although hard to see, top of front pocket is about 1/3 of the way down from the top. Big pocket. Drain grommets on pocket and main compartment.
Taped edges of fabric on main compartment. Overall finish level good and I am picky. A minor amount of thread searing and so forth.
Light padding on ventral side of pack, easily augmented by a cut-out section of GI sleeping pad, if desired. Replaceable shoulder straps should be adequate unless one really overloads the pack. No quick-release feature on included shoulder straps. ALICE––or other–– shoulder straps having such a feature could easily be substituted, if desired. Direct mounting to plate carrier or the like could be accomplished by removing the shoulder straps, and either using the PALS set-up already installed on ventral side of pack OR using some 1" webbing and QD buckles along with the 1" metal, oval rings that are OEM equipment.
Integral sternum strap, carry handle, 8 (!) bladder/antenna ports, large-tooth zippers, compression straps double as backups in case of zipper failure. Enough PALS webbing to considerably augment pack's capacity, if desired. Permanently attached belly band has pockets for storage. Pack body material seems very similar to that used on USGI MOLLE III assault Pack, probably 500d cordura.
Too bad I missed the MC version, but I know how to dye ACU into a great green-based digital pattern. CB still available, and since this thing WILL hold two 100 OZ bladders, such might be just the ticket for you folks living in arid climates. It should be possible to stow some additional stuff inside the main compartment if carrying the two full bladders, particularly if it's small items/foldable stuff.
For the price, this thing is well-made, and offers a great deal of value for the $. I think this unit compares well with other "Big Name" hydration packs of similar size, while costing a good deal less. This small pack is also ideal for a gym bag, book bag, or any other use to which its' size lends itself.
For a comparison pack, see this link to the Camelbak HAWG:
http://www.camelbak.com/Military-Tactical/Packs/2011-Hawg.aspx Note the similar size, features, and so forth. Also note price difference.
Submitted for your consideration........
ETA: Pix added. If there are any questions, fire away.
On a side note, IMHO every pack should also have with it a small kit of spare buckles and such, in case one of the originals happens to go bust. The vendors of this pack, Supply Captain, have several assortments of MOLLE and ILBE field-expediant buckles in their "Clearance" section, near the end. Make a note of the different buckles on the pack, and see which kit works best.
One other point: The PALS webbing on the bottom of this pack is not laid out in the usual pattern; it's at right angles to the customary arrangement, and that makes adding a small roll or such, via straps, to the bottom of the pack a little tricky.
Here's how to do it: Get 2, extra, QD, Dual Adjust buckles, and however much 1" nylon webbing you want. Thread the 1" webbing through the bottom PALS webbing in sort of an "X" pattern leaving the excess hanging down. You'll have 4 lengths of nylon hanging down at the bottom 4 corners of the pack at this point. Attach the buckles, and you're done.
Military webbing (use the thicker of the two offered) is available at
www.strapworks.com .

Pic below shows formerly ACU pack with some other formerly ACU items all dyed using RIT Dk Green dye. The item in upper left is a formerly DCU radio pouch. Color has been adjusted to show more-or-less correct image, although not perfect match. All items are a tinch darker than shown in the image above, with the DCU radio pouch considerably darker.
