And it's not even me.

My second son, our youngest, now almost three, has clinical insomnia. Last night, still tonight I guess, I got 4.5 hours of sleep, now here I am, up and on arfcom because I need to stay awake to watch him.

It has taken a heavy toll on our lives, and everything suffers. Little gets done. We are the zombies we prep for

Doctors can do nothing, he has seen them all.

Sometimes, shtf isn't something you can prep for, you just deal with it.

Doesn't help that my wife cannot function on less that 8-9 hours.

A few drops of wine on the tongue work wonders.

Try a little melatonin. Like 1mg or less to start.

He also has an eating disorder thing, basically he hates eating. Melatonin didn't work.

At this point we have to wait for him to start talking to tell us why he is awake, hopefully more than I don't know.

We just learned about these weighted blankets, have one on order.

He has been like this his whole life, and to every MD . Specialist, chiropractor, natural doctor, etc, in the state.

Take the boy camping for a weekend.  No flashlights or video games or artificial lights, just a campfire.  And come back and tell us if he still can't fall asleep.

He falls asleep fine, gets up after 4-5 hours.

Camping is a bit hard this time of year

I know exactly what you are dealing with. My step daughter when she was a 6 month old baby would only sleep every 4th day. Seriously Melatonin did nothing. She is seven now and sleeps about 4 hours a night if were lucky, she still will have a crash day every once in a while and sleep for like 2 hours after school and then almost all night. The good thing is now she gets up gets herself a snack and a drink and watches Disney channel on her own without waking everyone up. Not ideal but it works.

This may sound strange but try Magnesium oil. It comes in a spray bottle and you spray 4 squirts on your skin and rub in in. Preferred place is on the stomach. I have suffered from insomnia all my life but after finding this it has helped tremendously. I have read up on it and the studies say up to 95% of americans are deficient in magnesium and it causes lots of health problems. You get it mostly from veggies and since our nation uses chemical fertilizers our soil in almost depleted. And its great for muscle pain as well. We buy the magnesium flakes and take a bath with it if we are sore from too much yard work or whatever. I tell everyone about it cause its cheap and does wonders.

I'll give that one a try, but I'm pretty sure his powder provides magnesium (although I'm not sure how much). You are dead on about magnesium deficiency though, and I try to keep up on my mag/calcium/zinc pills. I know when I forget and stop taking them, as the muscle pain reminds me

Did any of those Drs check to see if he had a MTHFR gene mutation?
Is the problem going to sleep or staying asleep?

Try Glycine.
If that doesn't work add.
GABA
5HTP
Sleep hygiene
Blue light filtering glasses.
Keto Diet.

Staying asleep. Always wakes up after about 4-5 hours.

No, they didn't check for that mutation. I'll add it to the list.

Any head injuries? Even minor ones can be a problem.

Look for a functional medicine Dr that checks for the MTHFR.
I often find that sleep problems are a symptom of something else so you need to be looking deep to find the problem.
Staying asleep I would start Glycine, GABA, and 5HTP.
Another thing to try would be a non psychoactive hemp oil and I suggest cwhemp.com.
