I wanted one for my collection but prices for these can be stupid high. Sure, Ive got better ones, but I wanted one for many years now. Its actually very light and compact overall. I see why they were highly regarded back in the day.
Easily took a nice edge too.

ETA.. that one has the slingshot on it!!!!  I think i have one of those too!!!!  I will have to find my box o knives from my childhood.  I totally forgot about that knife.

My experiance with that knife with the slingshot, is that under hard use the blade will break from the handle at the hilt. At least that's what happened with mine.

Thats very cool. It has the Marto style wire cutter hole.

even the cheapo copies are surprisingly tough. I was given this one when I was 10 year old. Literally a washer and a nut on the inside of the plastic handle just keeping it in place. I used it to dig, cut pine tree branches, build shelters, break rocks, used it as a throwing knife all summer long. I mean the kind of stupid stuff a kid puts a knife through and its still solid today, heres a pic along the Aitor.

In the case of Aitors, they are tough as nails. Googling Aitor Jungle King Fail/broken this is the only pic I found. The blade snaps before the pinned tang.

With mine, I bought it about 20 years ago. It broke off within a month, right where the handle fastened to the blade. The plastic itself snapped off. It may have just been a fluke, but kept me from buying another as a replacement.

I went to a Buckmaster 184. Pricey, but built like a tank!

Cant say I use my Buckmaster. Given the price the ones in new condition are going for, by the time I thought about using it, it would have been a shame so it stayed in the collection rather than use rotation.
Its one fat heavy blade though. The Jungle King II is used by the military here and its far lighter, user friendly.

One thing I did notice in the picture posts is that the ones pictured seem to have a metal handle and better blade steel than the cheapee I bought back in the day.!

My dad bought me a  Aitor Jungle King back in the 80's when I joined the National Guard.



I opened a ton of 81mm mortar ammo with that knife. The recurve of the blade made it easy to follow the notch in the cardboard tube the rounds came in.  I found cutting them open easier and less messy than ripping off the tape.



I still have lying around somewhere.  The slingshot tubing gave up the ghost many years ago.

I prefer the original.

Ah, a net Nazi speaks.  Since one fellow mentioned Buckmasters, and I've seen them on fleabay for more than I paid for my Randall, and no price range was brought up, I figure it's appropriate.

Now had the OP wanted to talk just about cheap ones he'd have said so.
