What does it mean when the golf cart battery says "105 minutes?"

On 12V automotive  batteries, that is a measurement of how long a battery can go with a 25 amp load before it drops to 10.5 volts.

However, just found this about GC batteries :http://masekgolfcars.com/battery-discharge-ratings-for-golf-car-batteries/

I just use amp hour calcs

Depends on the load rating of the battery and how much current is being continously drawn.

It is rated in amp hours.  If its a 25 amp hour battery  that means it will sustain a constant load of 25 amps for one hour.     If you only have a 12.5 amp load it will sustain 12.5 amps for 2 hours.  So on and so forth.     As far as their rating goes.  Maybe its a 20 amp hour battery and the cart only draws 19 amps continous giving u the rated drive time or there abouts

That rating ( RC75)  is specific for GOLF CART batteries... ONLY.

the exact definition is " the number of minutes the battery can supply  75 Amps, at 80 degrees F, Terminal Voltage 5.25"

.

.

That rating  is not provided for any other class of  battery.
For example, the  RC ( reserve capacity ) for automotive starting batteries is stated in minutes  of discharge  at 25 Amps.

. The normally referenced ( 20 HOUR) rating for a GC2 standard Golf Cart battery ranges from 220 to 235 Amp-Hours, again, at a C/20 rate..

What does this have to do with solar power?

20 AH rating not 25

Of course you must also understand Peukert's Law:  that capacity of the battery is also affected at the rate its being discharged.

OP,

Capacity of deep cycle batts are measured in amp hours as the other posts said.
Basically, if you use 1 amp for one hour you can use a 100 AH batt for 100 hours before it is completely depleted.  If you use 2 amps you have 50 hours of power.  In reality though, a lead acid battery should not be discharged below 50% state of charge (SOC).  Each time you do that you severely shorten the cycles left in its life span.

Many thanks.

With good weather I'm getting back on trying to finish this project. I have two golf cart batteries. One is a Duracell that is:•20 amp hour rate:215
•5 amp hour rate:157
•6 amp hour rate:156
•BCI Group Size:GC2
•Minutes at 25 amps:395
•Minutes at 75 amps:105
•Volts:6

The other is an Exide that is 6 volts and 100 minutes. Which do you recommend?
