Hello. Ask away, but you might get more traffic in the Ohio HTF.

Not Cincinnati proper, but close enough that I might be of service.

Gonna be there a few months. Lookings for local stuff, good thngs to know, ranges, etc. You guys ever get together to shoot or dinner, or whatever?
Figure its good policy to know people in the local area..felt like a better place to put it than the HTF because of smaller readership, maybe. |

Lots of nice parks, the Zoo, plenty of good restaurants in just about every ethnic variety and price range. What time of year will you be here? Are you staying in the city proper, or one of the suburbs? Personally, I usually shoot at Spring Valley Wildlife Area. It's about a half hour north of the River, run by the State DNR, and costs a dollar a visit or $24 for annual pass. |

Meh, I like most eveything from museums to outdoorsy stuff. Sounds like there's an aquarium in the area I'll check out, too. I'll be staying on the North end.
Anything to be cautious of? |

Eden Park is a nice and has a good view of the River and downtown.
Krohn Conservatory in Eden Park is doing a butterfly exhibit for the next couple of weeks and then a flower show. Newport on the Levee has quite a few things to do. Hofbrauhaus, the Newport Aquarium, and a number of restaurants. The Taft and Cincinnati Art Museum The Aronoff has plays, musical and such. The Zoo usually has some interesting exhibits. I've been in SW Ohio my entire life, and Cincinnati for a few years. The funny thing about it is that the neighborhoods to avoid are kind of hit and miss, all over the place. One minute you'll be in nice area, and down the block - boom - you're in the ghetto.

Awesome, exactly what I was looking for as far as things to do. Probably avoid the entertainment kinds of things but stuff to do on my own is great. I'll be carrying whenever I'm out and about but you can't really find the areas to stay away from via google.

Bombay Brazier best Indian I've ever eaten.
Jeff Ruby has quite a few nice restaurants in the area. Nicholson's Pub is a good place for drinks, well, food, too. Lot's of good restaurants all over town. |

Best steaks on the planet at Ruby's. Pretty expensive, though. |

+1000 for Nicholson's Pub...great food and incredible Scotch selection. It's in my top ten things I miss about living in SW Ohio.

I live in east tn now but grew up on the east side of cincy out in the burbs.
The aquarium is in northern kentucky I think. I am wandering up next week to visit family and grab my new to me quad. I stick to way out in the burbs or out in the sticks these days. There is a lot to do in the area and as far as areas to stay away from I agree with a fair bit of what has been posted but I tend to not be around those areas much these days. If you are going to be in the area you might want to find the address for aim if you want to buy some ammo. They are good folks and a site sponser, but I only deal with them because they are good folks. They do what they say and their prices are fair in my opinion. There is an indoor range in fairfield, forget the name but can get it from my sister. It should show up in a search and I think they are a benelli dealer, I knew the name before my sister mentioned it. I tend to wander out to the outdoor shooting areas and skip ranges but it depends on what floats your boat. Fairfield has a nice big mall and to some extent I guess I just keep listing stuff in the burbs since I lived in the burbs and always messed around in the burbs. Sounds like you have some folks with more recent activity in the area but if you wind up on the east side and need some help with something let me know and I can see who is available depending on what you need. It kind of sucks to get a flat or break down and not know the good repair shops in the area and what not. And even then I guess google might help you out with that. |
