.

Talk to the guys who drive the propane trucks.  They'll know who just upgraded or replaced a tank.  Old tank has to go somewhere...

+1 I found a guy at a gas station filling up and asked him what he does with the old ones. He said that he sells them on the side and installs them... Heck of a deal and it looks brand new!

I've seen them at the scrap yard more then once, and most scrap yards are willing to resell by weight.

Also checkout trailer parks as that seems to be the size they use.

My house uses a 500gal. - real fun getting the bill when they completely fill it to max useable capacity.

Something I've never seen mentioned(here) is the local radio stations. Sometimes they have call-in programs where people can buy, sell, trade, or give away things. We have a couple in this area, one called the Party Line and the other one called the Swap Shop. The local one called the Party Line even posts the items online every day after they finish with the show.

They are everywhere  back here.  Just have to find a way to get it out that way.  I saw no less than a dozen for sale on craigslist here in georgia.  Did you try CL outside of NV?  You may have luck in California due to the sheer number of people there.  GL.

Talk to the local propane companies, many times they need to repo a tank and you can buy a repo tank.

Check the propane companies. Many will often sell used tanks cheap.

On LP- you want to OWN the tank. They will all try to talk you into "leasing" the tank- don't do it.

Once you OWN the tank, you can shop around for gas. When you "fleece" sorry lease, the tank, you HAVE to use the company that "leases" you the tank.

We save on average $.30 to .50 A GALLON every time we say "no we OWN our tank", someone will get you a deal that's that much lower on your gas.

And KEEP your bill of sale. Cheating arse Feral gas company has contacted FIVE people I now that own their own tanks later billing them for lease of the tank THEY OWN!!!

My local propane company buried a 1000 gallon tank in my yard for FREE.

I just use their propane to fill it up.

No contract, no time period, etc.

I budget bill for about 30 dollars per months, and have never run out or had to pay extra.
