Ordered a Katadyn Hiker Pro to throw into my BOB, need to order a few more things to finish it up.

Also straightening out my finances, saving money where I can (bringing lunch to work instead of buying fast food) and putting it in my savings. Anything that doesn't make it into my savings will go to preps.

And I'm saving up to finish building my next AR. I already have my spikes tactical lower finished and just need to save for an ACOG and a decked out BCM 14.5 middy upper.

Harvested my first bit of honey..they're doing good, but I only took one frame, to try it..it was great. Going to have to make some bisquits today.

Also made a small candle...not really a prep, just to see how it would tuen put..pretty good. Not exactly a work of art, but functional.

Taking my two daughters (8 and 7) on their first camping trip later today.

Packing my truck really demonstrated how much less space I have in the 2007 Nissan Xterra I bought in April, vs. the old 1997 Ford Expedition I traded in.

Picked up a Goal Zero solar kit from costco today for $99.00, It comes with the 7 watt panel, battery charger, 4 AA and 4 AAA batteries, USB cable, flashlight, and 12 volt cable end to plug 12 accessories in.

I think you will like it because I sure like mine. I bought one at Costco a few months back and I have used it several times charging my cell phone and some rechargeable AAA batteries for my flashlights. It really impressed me with how quickly it can charge batteries. I also like the lights that come with it which will be nice in any emergency. It is very light weight and compact making it a perfect for any emergency scenario like the one where the government finally bankrupts our country and the power goes off.

Been really busy lately. Joined a Krav Maga class for training and exercise.
Bought an AK-74 and 2100 rounds of ammo for it.
Canned up my very first tomatoes and tomato sauce.
Sold off some tools that I havent used in 7 years and probably never will. Using those funds for preps.

Stumbled across a great local deal on some scepter MFC's and kept 4 for myself and selling the rest for a little extra.
Worked on the garage some more for organization.
Trying to get my 6.8 rig running it is giving me some fits.
Changed scopes on my 5.56 rig that I use for 3-gun and like it a lot better. Tomorrow I need to sight it in and there are about 400 rounds of 9mm that is screaming for me to shoot it. So I get to do some drills tomorrow also which I need.

Also with the funds form the tools and a weapon light I sold today. I talked to my uncle about welders and am getting a good one for the amount I have.

I don't use red dots or holo sights.  I don't know anything about them.
I took a chance on it,
I can't find anything about it, even when I google "ACOG clone" ,
It seems pretty decent quality, I am thinking I will try it on my Marlin 60

It looks just like this, so it must be a clone.

Got a Honda EU3000is generator this week. Today I went on a hike in our nearby state park in Hellinoise. It was a 105 degree heat index with the humidity so high it was hard to breathe. I hiked 5 miles with about 40 lbs. of pack and gear. I carry 3 canteens of water and a camelbak insert. I drank the entire contents of the camelbak. It took me three hours to do the hike. I looked like I had jumped in a pool when I was done. I am now going to start to prepare some 6.8spc cases for reloading. Till later fellow roughnecks!

The wife and I went on a two mile walk. Hope to keep it up, to get back in shape.
Read the tread from disco_jon75 ( which was very informative ) and I think he made up my mind on boots. The Danner Ft. Lewis.
I know there heavy, but I have been searching for boots that would hold up to 350 miles.
That's the distance I travel with my wife  for our side business at times and if we had to walk a major part of it we would need something that could take it.
Now to decide on a good pack.
