I finally got my wife to the range yesterday. She did well with a .22lr rifle at 50'. She had a 2" group after about 30 minutes of me walking her through 'stock weld, cheek weld, sight alignment, sight picture, breathing control, slow steady squeeze', followed by her telling me to shut up and let her shoot. She was too intimidated by my AR to fire it. Baby steps.

While straitening up the garage I found an old 2 gallon garden sprayer, a replacement sink sprayer, hose clamps, and flat black paint. Hmmmmm.
This stuff put together made a nifty expedient camp shower or with a stainless steel pet food bowl, a small sink for washing hands or dishes. The tank was flat green with white lettering. The flat black paint took care of the lettering. The two hoses did not mate up with their factory connections, so a box cutter removed the wand and the brass nut from each hose. A piece of 5/16 PEX tube in between the two hoses and clamped down, made a leak free joint. It was put in the sun yesterday at about noon and after about 4 hours and it was HOT! Plus ran the propane fridge for about four hours.

Simple, yet effective. I got a reponse for my beater bbl add I posted in the EE and also managed to get a BCG in the process. In the end my beater gun cost 620 bucks including all shipping of parts etc... Not bad, I was hoping to keep it under 600. |

I saw it here or read that somebody else put the one together. Plus, Zodi has one that is SS and sets on a propane burner. Thanks to everyone that posted positive about it. While straightening up the barn this morning, I found three full 16.4 oz propane bottles and an old single burner lantern. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out what happened to that lantern. We got our lower level water-proofed about five years ago and we stowed a bunch of stuff from the garage to the barn. Diverting the rain, melt-off and ground water made all the difference in the world. |

We picked strawberries, peas and cherries today. The strawberries are frozen, the peas are being blanched as I write this and will have probably (1) one gallon freezer bag full and all the cherries have been pitted with some already in the freezer and some just came out of the oven in pie form...

Went to a flea market today, picked up a Coleman 2 burner stove dated 1981 for $20.00. Kicking myself for not getting the second one he had for $17.50. The second one was in a little rougher condition, yet still worked fine.

Went for a 3 mile walk yesterday, being stuck on a boat weeks on end does a number ya.
Placed a order Fulton Armory for a number of M1A tools and bits. Including a new rear sight that I'm going open up to "ghost ring." Along with a tritium front sight. I sitll need to get a Scout mount and a Aimpoint. That'll be a few weeks hopefully with the Midway USA B-day discount. I also need get maybe another 5 or so mags. |

re: garden sprayer for shower....I've used one since 04 for showers during hurricane season, which replaced a simple plastic garden watering can..., good idea to get a dedicated one, that hasn't been used to spray insecticides etc...... FYI... 125" of 5/8 garden hose will hold about 2 1/2 gallons of water, and if left in 90 degree air temp Florida sun will get to 135F in 1 hour...a 3mil 33gal contractors cleanup bag, laid flat with a 2x4 laid under to elevate the opening will hold 5gallons of water about 1/2" deep... will reach 125F in 1 hour... be sure to dip the water out into another container, and don't try to pour it.....a squishy bag of 125 degree water is awkward to handle

No interest...but at least it won't go from $2000 to $50 when Greece and Spain achieve WTF status. |

-rotated out 15 gallons of gas and replaced it
-reorganized 9mm go boxes (I had about 600 mix and match rounds in there - the mix and match is now my range ammo. My primary 9mm go to ammo is Remington Golden Saber bonded 124 gr. +P and my secondary go to ammo is Winchester Q4318 124 gr. +P FMJ. I have 750 rounds of the Q4318 in the go box -put about 600 rounds of XM193 on strippers and into a 5.56 go box, which replaced a mix and match of .223 -reorganized 12 ga. go box and discovered that I had bought more than a few rounds of 2 3/4' and 3" magnum buck and slug -got paycheck with about 20 hours of OT on it - it sucked working it but the $ will be used for home improvements -had about 8 hours of pistol, rifle and boomstick training, more coming soon -competed in a couple of pistol matches...did OK |
