Since its that time of year again.... I thought I'd start a thread about Black Friday deals for SF!
Lets start with a generator:
@ Menards (6AM open time on BF):

Details read 1200/1000 watt, 2HP, 2 stroke, one 120V outlet and one 12V dc output, 8.5 hours runtime

Menards: Blankets, 50"x60", assorted styles, limit 10
(I have probably 20+ of these from previous years.... they are GREAT for kids and compact to keep in the car... now they're no swiss wool blanket... but for $1.69 a piece, its pretty awesome.)

Menards:  US made Rayovac batteries
30pack of AA or AAA... $2 after rebate ($4 rebate is credit check for Menards only)

Harbor Freight (7am general opening, 6am for insidetrack members)

Thread here for this generator.

Thread on this system here.

Gander Mountain  (6AM opening)

Buddy Heater $60 after rebate

Lowes (6am)

LED maglites (a favorite of SF in the past)
2D/3D $15
AA mini  $11

12V tire inflator with digital gauge

Tractor Supply Co (6AM)
(Enter your information on their website and print a coupon for $5 off any purchase over $25 instore or 10% online )

Yea, its blurry.  But its a Sportsman 2000/1500 watt 4-stroke generator for $150
The item page is here.

23000 BTU K1 Radiant Heater - $100
Item page can be seen here.

Buddy Heater $68 (no rebate).
Item page can be seen here.

For those of you with BOT's... never underestimate the necessity of rachet straps...
2"x27'  $8 each   (ETA: I think these are the ones that normally sell for $15 each)

How shitty are those generators and how much power do they kick out?  I've never had a generator as I've always lived in an apartment as an adult and usually not on a ground floor.  Now I have a small deck that I could put a generator on.  Wonder if it is worth having one.

they are loud.....you can watch TV.....and have a light or two on.....did I mention they were loud?

Both the Menards and HF generator appear quite similar, although rated differently.... and the Menards is cheaper (at the listed prices).

Have not been to sams in a while but best deal on ratchet straps I have found is 4 straps for 20 or so bucks at sams.  The straps are rated at 2 or 3k lbs and are the slightly larger ratchet straps with handles big enough to do some decent tensioning on a quad suspension or something when strapping it down.

Even not on sale these are a good deal and the 20 bucks or so was the everyday price earlier this year when I got another couple packs.

Wally world sells 2 of them for 20 bucks, they are usually branded goodyear and are yellow straps with black coated hooks and ratchets.

I buy a 4 pack or two everytime I go to sams, one or two times a year, and I currently have some I have never used and I give them to friends as gifts now.

So much better than cheap straps.

I still like my 3d mag lights from last year and will spend 100 bucks on them this year probably.

Still have my aa maglight but not a fan of it after taking it to work for a couple weeks.  It works but does not handle repeated use all that well.  Make 15 rounds a night and 5 nights a week and the thing saw a decent bit of use.

The big maglights sit around the house until I need a spotlight.  Only been used a few times this year but very nice to have around and throw some decent light.

Anyone have reviews of the TSC generator? No Menards around me, and the little larger TSC gen might be worth the price diff after you factor in the drive.

Some reviews on the TSC page for the generator.. seems mixed.... likely would be that way with any china-made genny.

This is a great thread, but you couldn't pay me to go out shopping on Black Friday.  I don't care how good the deals are.  It's insanity out there.

I view it as a learning experience.   It shows how crowds act and react when they are highly motivated in an 'every-man-for-himself' situation.

Plus, if I get a few deals out of the experience...

Is there a coupon for the kero heater or is it just a show up on friday thing? I went to the web site and didn't see anything about the special price.

I'm with you there.....I know the dynamics of motivated crowds.....and want no part.

I look at it as keeping myself out of a potentially hostile situation.....that.....is priceless.

Besides.....my Christmas shopping is done.........other than the SF exchange

Oh C'mon.... how many people get trampled to death every year? I know our localwalmart had some little old lady that went under the stampede but thankfully didnt die and wasn't hurt too bad. But they went fron 4-6 cops working security to around 13-15....

ETA: Forgot to ad that was a medium town walmart... where walmart is literally the biggest  store and nearly the largest structure....

I think you have to subscribe to the shell shocker to get that.,.... but you can easily sign up then use the code.
Also... this week  Menards has their brand of pre-charged AA or AAA NiMH batteries - 4pk for $5..... its probably not eneloop quality, but a good price.

any updates . went to safe way bought peaches, went to Walgreen's two for one deal on quaker oatmeal. Geisha pears 75 cents, went to CVS and picked up cranberry 2 for one dollar ocean spray. Picked up bushes baked beans 3 for 5 dollars.

Kind of bummed because the pickens are slim.

You think with all the people from Mexico there would be a deal on refried beans. No deals on canned spinach either. End of world must be coming.

Outstanding.  Got your email yesterday, Garand_Shooter.

Already pondering some more of your EMT and first responder kits.  Those things have literally saved me and some friends over the last year or two while camping, hiking and boating, and remarkably - the small kits still make it through TSA as of last week...

I was in Office Depot a little while ago and they had the DeLorme TOPO software for $49, which looked to be half the regular price.

I've read in this forum folks talking about using this software for SHTF, downloading to a portable device for bugging out, as well as regular hiking, camping, etc.
