A few of the latest IWB holsters I've made.  Trying some different belt clip/loop setups, can't decide what I like more personally, the soft loops or clips.  Soft loops are more comfortable, but the rigid are definitely more stable.

The Kydex is 0.080" and I use a few different types of Foam.  The Sig was pressed with Knife Kits Xtreme Form, the revolver was pressed with the 1.25" foam from Carolina Foam.

Maybe I just need to replace my foam finally then. Thanks!

I really like the KK Xtream Foam. It is expensive, but it lasts a very long time compared to less expensive foam.

Also, I heat the Kydex up to 335°F and get it clamped down in the press in a hurry.  Not getting it hot enough and/or taking too long to get it pressed down will negatively affect the definition.

I've been using KK Mega Form for about a year now(without changing it). I get mine heated up to 320-350 depending on how bad its starting to curl up and shrink. I would lean towards it being my phone finally needing to be replaced. I couldn't begin to guess how many holsters I've made in that about on time either.

Made this for my wife's vehicle when she can't carry it.

I am in the process of making a spare magazine carrier to piggyback off the holster also.

Anybody have a source for a belt loop similar to this?

This is my favorite style of carry holster, I'd like to make one out of kydex for my next pistol purchase. If I can get the loop right.

Made a vanguard for my G 42. These purposely built for holster making replicas make holster making stupid simple. All I had to do was add one .060 sheet to both sides inside the trigger guard for perfect retention on the vanguard.

Made this for one of the guys around here. He wanted it named after a past relative of his, Sieben. So I called it the Sieben Bootlegger as a tribute the old days. It works real well and hangs nicely. This is his G19 with custom stippling he does.

Here is one I made for a cop buddy to carry his piece off duty. Yes he's a southpaw. This is before final sanding and loops. I had to go back and relieve behind the take-down lever.

Also forgot the decocker. Double action only 220. Thank god they don't have to use them very often. I dry fired it a few times and it's actually not that bad.

Man, I just got some Holstex carbon fiber in 0.08 and is this stuff thick.

I am planing on making an OWB fold-over for my G 21 SF, similar to a bladetech.

I've worked with 0.08 products before, but this stuff seems very solid.

If anyone has used this particular product, does if mold well?

How do you get that definition with .08?

What temp do you heat to and what do you use for a press, that is awesome?

Temp = 320°F - 335°F

Press = Home Build. Nothing more than a few layers of MDF and some heavy duty bar clamps

Foam = Knife Kits Xtreme or Carolina Custom Foam

Tips, go from oven to clamped down in the press as fast as possible - preheat the foam, preheat the mold/gun

Do you use that 20 ton press with real guns or props.

I am using my 12 Ton A-frame but I don't crank it down hard because I am using guns.

I guess I need to get some props and crank it down.

Both I just stop cranking it down once the foam reaches about the thickness of the gun plus 1 or 2 inches.  I kind of go by feel but I'm planning on adding some stops to the MDF backers.

Finally got around to making something for my shotgun.

I need to shorten the spacer for the tension screw, in my mold I made. Had to modify the bottom to make it work with the screws and posts I have. First try didn't turn out that bad though. I need to run it and see how it holds up to recoil, and see if I need thicker foam holding the shells. Just racking it, they held very well though.

Well, here's how it came out.

Conventional oven at 325* until soft (2-3 Min)

Homemade press made out of MDF and KnifeKits foam.

Pressed to actual gun for 20 min or so.

This was a first  attempt, and has a tec-loc belt loop.

What sort of clamps are you using to apply force?
Do you have a good IR thermometer?

I looks like you may benefit either from hotter material and/or more clamping force

I use 2 bar clamps with an advertised clamping strength of 1,000# each.

You should get an IR Thermo to verify the temp is up to at least 315°.  The material starts getting pliable before 300°, but not pliable enough to get great definition.

Enough heat, and enough pressure will yield better definition.

Hey Danj,
Where'd you find those tiny diameter eyelets, and how'd you press them?  One of my biggest complaints over the years is that regular eyelets add to much to the width of the finished item.

Just got my first 100 blood red eyelets from Index.  Every one of them split and the enamel type paint started flaking off.

Just an FYI.   Paint is rough on the eyelets and kinda thick.  I think this is why they all split.

What are you using to press them? I just got these eyelets from IFI a few months ago and if I remember right I only split one on the whole rig.
