Griffon makes short charge cables for micro/mini/30pin Apple devices. They weigh nothing almost.

I've found that a Western Mountaineering sleeping bag in a stuff sack fits very well with all my other gear into a Kelty 50L black backpack that can fit into the overhead bin of an airplane very easily. It also fits under the seat with all my stuff inside it. Anyone else have similar experiences?

Oh, and Happy New Year!!

Yeah, I've been trying a Jacks-R-Better Sierra Stealth quilt that can be used like a blanket, a sleeping bag and worn as insulation.  Being treated down is a great option and it compresses to a little larger than a softball...not bad for a 40 degree rating.

Good to see you. This is still the best write up of its kind on the web, after all these years.

I spent 2-3 years in another section of the forums using a thread as a record of everything I'd done and learned while homesteading. My father died unexpectedly and I didn't post for a couple months. When I came back the whole thing was archived and even there the majority of the pages gone.

The additional kick in the nuts of having all my work thrown away after already being at that low point in life, pretty much cured me of forums.

I probably missed it.

You need to carry CASH. A  lot of it for hotels, car rentals, food, etc. In case power is down wide scale.
