THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT First backpack trip for many of them. Fishing was good. I caught my first Bull Trout. It was a doozie. Tricky cast across the (strong) current into a pool. Tough fight, trying to stay hooked to a big fish in a strong current. Took a while. But it all worked out in the end. Sorry for the blurry fading light cell phone photo. Its an action shot. To get the shot, I handed my rod to the white-legged scout and asked him to move the fish so I could get a shot of the colors. He tried to get the fish out of the water. Tried to tell him not too, but it was too late, Fish was big enough it broke the tippet just as I clicked.

Nice fish. Was fishing near Stanley
and Ketchum earlier this summer....fantastic scenery. What fly did you catch him on? I pulled out a Couple nice cutthroats two weeks ago using a size 12 golden stone!! |

Congratulations, I caught my first bull this summer too, on a rainbow colored streamer.
I hope to be fishing the Loon Creek area next week, I love that country. We're you close to that area? I heard there is a fire up there somewhere? |
