Anybody got a favorite bream fly? I usually run a bully spider beneath a popper in a pooper dropper rig...

Going to order some news ones soon and was just looking for color hints.

this guy caught blueguills when he was new and fresh, but the more he got chewed on, the bigger the fish got.
the tail is half gone, the rubber legs didn't last long, the white paint just couldn't deal with the abuse. the hackle is the only thing that stood the test.
it has earned a place on the fly patch of fame.

smallmouth are cool, but blueguills are a trip.

The bluegill in our pond love the mini hopper.

Most any nymph––pheasant tail, hare's ear, prince. Bluegill seem to like them all.

The green sunfish in the local creeks are very very fond of a Dave's Hopper, black size 10 and a Gaines Pan Pop, yellow size 10. They're usually pretty happy with an olive cone-head woolly bugger, size 10 or 8. I like bigger flies to keep the really small and stupid ones off the hook and to keep the big and stupid ones from swallowing the hook.
