It had been far too long since I hit the water last. So naturally I was excited for my trip today. The alarm went off at 0400; I got up and started getting ready. Shortly thereafter I get a text that read are you ready I am here. Sweet now I don’t have to wait until 0430 to take off.

After a quick stop for breakfast we were on our way. The drive went by quickly as we BS’ed about places we want to hit this year. After what seemed like a short time we were at our destination. One thing was sure no matter what happened this day was going to kick ass.

Once there we grabbed our tubes out of the back, got the waders on and hit the water. It was a calm day with absolutely no wind and the water was like glass.

The early morning was pretty slow for me. I did not even manage one strike by the time I made it across the lake. Once there I decided to switch up some things. Evidently I made the right call as a short time later I felt my first tug as I was stripping in line. Unfortunately after a short fight I LDR’ed him… I LDR’ed another before I got my first fish of the day.

I fished that side for a while longer hooking some more before deciding to head back some food.

I was almost back to the other side when the wind decided to pick up. I hope this crap ends I thought to myself. Well unfortunately after eating lunch the wind still was there. We decided to check it out for a bit and it was a good call. Both of us hooked and landed quite a few in the last few hours we fished.

After few hours of playing in the wind we decided to call it.

For stillwater float tube stuff; I always grab my 10' Helios. It happens to be a 7wt but honestly even small fish are fun on it...

No I have not fished there yet this year. A friend of mine did over the winter and killed it out there.
