Kind of cheating I was casting in a small spillway and saw this guy about 2 ft away from me digging in the mud(or something like that).

I reached over slowly and grabbed him by the tail with my hand. Pulled him right out and took a few pics then he swam happily away

Smallmouth.  Columbia River near Richland.

Full sinking line worked best, but these are caught with sinking tips.  Not a real fly.  Oh well, it's what they like.

Alsea River searun cutthroat from this morning. Perfect day on the water, and I think it's going to be a healthy run this year. They were all bright, fat and feisty.

Some of the little Brook Trout we caught today. All caught on BH Hares Ear Nymph. Wife was using spinning gear and a bobber and fly. I was using my fly rods. This little pond is up in the Pole Mountain area between Cheyenne and Laramie.

First time for Redfish.

Mosquito Lagoon - Oak Hill FL

Cool side note we watched the Space X launch from the skiff in the middle of the lagoon.  Just put down the poles and took it in.  Pretty bad ass.

I can actually past something in here! Decided not to take the kayak out today instead opting for the fly rod and some (stocked) trout. At least it's a bend in the rod, right?

Ended up putting this together the other day. Pic of the tarpon, the fly I had tied and caught it on and one of its scales that it dropped on the deck during the release. Think it turned out pretty good.

Browns on the middle Provo last Thanksgiving. My father has pretty aggressive Muscular Dystrophy and he hustled out onto the river and fished all morning, it was pretty awesome to see. My other half was freezing to death, but she pulled in a few as well. I love Utah!!!

Thank you!  That particular 9550 is one of my favorites. It just inspires confidence. It’s one of my prized fly fishing possessions. I do have many Abel draw bar Super series, Abel SDS, and Tibors but really, really appreciate the MAKO’s.

As always, my favorite fish: sea-run cutthroat aka "bluebacks". Here's some GoPro footage followed by some still photos.

It's funny: I'm out there, minding my own business on the Siletz River, fishing for bluebacks, when a summer steelhead decides to attack my Crackbaby fly while fishing my single-hand 5wt. Ok, fine, I'll play that game.

Only made it out a handful of times this year.  Had an ok day until I slipped and landed my ass on this.  One less Hardy Princess in the world.

At least I got to hear it protest, if only for a moment, earlier in the day.

Nice! A ling on a fly was one of my bucket list fish. I got mine off of Neaha bay. I have thought about trying for some off of Bandon.

Back on track: Due to neck surgery I have only been able to get out and swing once since August. Got this buck for my efforts...
