Local GI had to leave for overseas....I picked this up for $800. (He couldn't get the motor running). As long as I can get parts, I know I can get this one going. If not, I'm willing to just get another motor. I look forward to posting in this forum.

Sweet, I'd like to find something like that myself.
I've tried to see things from the liberal point of view ... but I'm just not flexible enough to get my head up my ass.

What's compression look like.

That's going to tell you right off the bat if you're going to need a new out board or not.

Do the basic checks and see if you have a viable engine. Compression, ignition, water/milky oil in the lower unit, general look see and tell us what you find before sinking (pun intended) $$ into it. Minimum compression in my book is 100 PSI. I like to see 120 or so.

I just got the boat home tonight. The poor soul that I bought it from didn't know to "Push to Choke".

She fired right up and sounded GOOD!

I also bypassed the (broken) trim switch and the motor raises and lowers just fine.

I'm going to dump the fuel (actually put it into my car) and mix up a new tank for the boat since the guy I bought this from probably had no clue that a two-stroke needs pre-mix.

Life is good.

Don't put pre-mix in your car. It will foul the plugs and other nasty things.
