Cobia season for VA ends June 1. Some corrupt fisheries management people decided the mid-atlantic states from GA north took to many last year, based on absolutely nothing. Of course these Florida based fisheries management people exempted FL from the closure.

A lot of small business owners are going to go under and lose their livelihood this summer.

It was determined by SAMF that Florida Cobia and GA/NY Cobia were two different stocks of fish and subject to different regulations. Supposedly the Giorgia to New York stock was overfished by over 100% of the quota in 2015, prompting the feds to close thecseason early in 2016

They did no scientific studies. They based their calculations off of Facebook pictures and what fishermen told them they caught.
