Went offshore a few weeks ago.

The boat that took us out put us on fish every time. We limited out on snapper in about 15 minutes, but could not find a legal sized Ling to  save or lives.

The dude that arranged the fish was a character to say the least. It was his "artistic" vision. The fish in question was a grouper if I recall correctly.

Do it! It changes fishing completely. We have two of those yaks pictured here and they are stable enough I can fly cast from them standing up. Several guys around here take them a  few miles out into the gulf and catch king....

It sure makes fighting a fish more interesting

Today's catch. A mix bag of Specks, Weakfish and Blues. To bad we ran out of bait, the bigger ones started biting at the end. We landed about 20 Specks and 20 Weakfish and about 15 blues.

Thanks. Were U fishing for them or just catch it by luck of bait being used? They fish for them up here with mudlines rigs and big live baits on the end of the new pier. It gets crazy up here when people are fighting for spots on the end. HAHA

Got to go on my first saltwater fishing trip on a boat while in Aruba last week.  We didn't get to fish long, but it was an adventure being out in some pretty cool waves.  Ended up with three wahoo.  The biggest was around 22-25lbs according to the captain of the boat.

Here's the three on the dock

And me holding the biggest one

OK had great day fished from 630am to 530pm. Im am wore out. We landed about 60 fish today, mostly Weakfish with a few nice Speckle sea trout , one Red fish too small and one nice keeper Black drum. We took 8 dozen live shrimp for bait, only had about a dozen when done. Landed alot of the Weakfish on cut bait and jigs. The big catch of the day was me landed this nice 23"X 12.5" Speck that comes out to be 4.5 lbs, man she pulled hard when  I hooked here. Well Feb. is closed season here for Spotted Sea trout. March should be good thow.

Nice! Man there are few things as memorable as a good day fishing in Alaska!

Pulling in a big halibut is like reeling in furniture.

Is it similar to bringing in a big jewfish?

I wish the flounder down here got as big as halibut!

The biggest halibut I caught in AK was 167 pounds. It felt like very little fight, but reeling in dead weight....sideways....if that makes sense.

The captain of the boat I was on pulled out a .38 and cranked 2 shots in to its head before we brought it on board. His reasoning was that a fish that size (and they get a LOT larger) can cause havoc if its not slowed down. And that's all the .38 did, was slow it down some. It still went ape shit.

They get pretty large....

Since everyone is sharing Halibut pics....

This is my brother's catch. I believe he said it was 183 lbs. He stands 5' 10" or so, so that should give you some scale.

Sorry about the crappy quality, its a picture of a picture.

I caught these in the lagoon at Diego Garcia.  I was supposed to go deep sea fishing but the wind picked up and the other guys chickened out.  I didn't want to pay for the boat myself.  From what I saw earlier in the week I missed out on some yellowfin and wahoo.
