Caught a bunch on Saturday, on a variety of lures, road runners, Ned rig, but the last on of the day was on a spinner bait.

Also caught a smallmouth last week out of a very small creek, on a road runner.

Didn’t weigh it, but the dimensions suggest 11-12 lbs.

I have sadly not been bass fishing in years ... but as a kid growing up then in my 20s in SW Ohio, I am guessing I must have caught around 2000 bass. Give or take a few.

Easily 80% of them were via spinner baits.

Now in all fairness to other type baits, I used spinner baits alot as that was what worked. usually 1 of 3 colors: in order of success was, chartreuse - then black then white.

If they were active enough to chase and hit spinner baits, why use anything else ? Was always my motto. Can cover alot of ground using spinner baits also. More new fresh water.

Still doing very well with just about any dark colored wacky rigged Senko type worm, mainly like 5- 5 1/2", just throwing them around weightless.

I was skipping a black baby brush hog under docks today and caught one on the fall.

It was interesting, it didn’t have any horizontal stripe. Picture perfect dark green fading to a light golden white belly. Just no stripe.
