Texas rigged Berkely Pit Boss...can't remember the color.

I catch a mess of fish on them...lots of big ones too, I have most of the colors and love them.

These and SPRO top water frogs are my go to.  I'll usually throw spinners or cranks to find them...then I'll switch to a pit boss to get the big ones laying in the shadows.

I lost a good one Friday night, set the hook, he ripped some drag and broke me off, only using 8lb test but he still had to be a pretty good fish.

Smallmouth can't stand a jig, I've had them come up from 20' and nail a jig I was burning back to the boat on a bad cast. Some times the bite can be hard to feel and you just have to know there is a bass on the other end, other times they knock the piss out of it. Like the poster above said work it real slow on the bottom, if there is current I like to pop (stroking) it off the bottom and let it fall, then when they are really feeding you can fish it like a spinner bait with a grub or swimbait trailer. Once you get use to the bite you'll always have one close by.

Have you tried the Pumkin Punisher color?  It's my go to when it's slow, something always hits it.

A Z-Man zinkerz worm rigged wacky style. These Z-Man plastics are so tough I broke the o-ring isle to rig it before tearing up the worm. But they still have great action.

Thanks for the tips guys, lot of rocks close to the bank in the ponds I fish for LM, leary about spending half my time working snags loose, I do have some Hula Grubs that I have been meaning to try for awhile, with the jig head they will be somewhat similar.

Last night I was fishing for some good panfish for the grill. I was wading in a local lake that has a lot of fish in it. I had a little guy on the hook (that turned out to be the bass in the first picture) and about 10-15' in front of me once he was at the surface, the bass in the bottom fish chomped on my fish. I had an ultralight rod and small spinning reel. I couldn't even gain any traction on this thing, I thought it might've been a huge catfish at first because we don't get many 4lb+ bass in this lake. Sure enough I somehow managed to hook this slob of a bass. Pretty big for our parts. 4lb 10oz.

Fish that turned into bait:
