Got the news today from the vet. My 12 yr old (today) lab has kidney disease and only has a few more weeks left.
Hadn't been eating  as much lately and took him in for blood work. Doc said to just let him eat whatever he wants just as long as he eats something.
He has been the best lab I ever had. Probably never be able to replace him. Tearing me up inside. This sucks. This is the worst part of owning a pet.

Try and enjoy what time is left. They are furry angels here but for a short time.

The wife and I spent Friday with him since it was his birthday and would be his last with us. It ended up not being a good one.
We decided to let him eat whatever he wanted. But, he didn' t want anything. Coaxed him into eating some hamburger and some treats.
He didn't keep them down.
We made the decision that was best for him and decided to put him down today.
He is in a better place now.
Thank you to everyone for your prayers, it means a lot.

My condolences OP.

My pal is old and infirm and I know the day is coming.  Take some comfort in giving him a good life, he knew he was loved and well cared for.
