How late is too late to train to blood track? I don't have a hound, my dog's a blackmouth/lab mix, ~2 years old. He uses his nose like a machine out in the woods, but not at my direction as he has never been trained to do so.  I got to thinking it would just be a good skill to teach him if possible, and a new work schedule in January means I will have the time to devote.

Not a single reply...that's surprising, I know there have got to be a few guys on here that use dogs for the nose

never really too old to train a dog, as long as the dog is still wanting to learn
although it is better to do it early

it may take a little longer, but 2 yrs should be fine

you can get blood from butcher or your next hunt
start w/ a couple of easy runs that have been aged like 15-30 min
then progress each week w/ longer runs & aged more from there
