Can you see the birdee?   This is Misty, a 5 year old Brittany that I have worked with since she was a puppy.  Here she is "trusting her nose."

This is Lakota Sue, my personal dog.  She is trained for upland, waterfowl, and bloodtrailing.  She is in her 10th season and mostly retired, although I had her out on Sunday chasing some 'leftover' Tennesee Red Quail.   She has been my 'once in a lifetime' dog.

Awesome Point on the Brittay!  We had a brittany before I got into GSPS.  Beautiful dogs.

Here's my contribution:

This is my best friend Sonny.

Yeah, well....it's be better if she was actually pointing at the bird.  See the chukar sitting on the branch (...behind her)?

Sonny looks like a distinguished gentleman.

The good news is while she missed the point (completely), with my field shooting lately I'd miss the bird, which is worse.  Funny pic though.

Pictures can be deceiving.  She could have easily been pointing to scent if the wind was swirling.

Here's a similar picture, this is a dog that I raised named Gus.  It looks like he's sight pointing but the way the picture is taken you can just barely see how thick the brush is to realize that Gus is completely pointing on scent.  Right in front of Gus to the top of Gus' head is his owner's head.  When his owner stepped in to flush the bird, the bird stepped forward into my camera view.  Makes it a great picture!

*ETA* Hanz, that's a goregous wire pointer.

Here is Gunner my roommates German Shorthair. We use him for quail and Chukar hunts and he's a natural at it. He didn't require that much training really so that helped us out a lot. Here he is enjoying his favorite toy and relaxing on my sleeping bag

I guess he's a pretty rare color from what I understand. Now if I could just get him to stay out of the trash as well as he hunts birds...

Here's a pic of Clipper (the original Duckdawg) a few years ago illustrating his timid water entry.

Here he is a couple years ago with two geese he retrieved. The big goose was ~20lbs!

Opening day a few years ago.

Ya wanna go to the range? Ya follow the range rules! His adopted sister, Babe,  thought that was pretty funny...

Branching out into pheasants was a natural for Clipper! Babe is there just to add some "cute" to the pic...

well here he is 2 weeks into the season. 3 pheasants and 4 quail, he was 7 months old in this pic.

heres the night he came home from the pet ER a lil drugged up.

first time out, told him to get the birdies..... well thats one way to get them....

heres mack and jinx working the field.

1st point in the field

heres a pic like 4 or 5 months old in the front yard pointing some quail wings.

a lil pre season practice.... lol

all wore out...

not sure how he will do this year but last year his first was alot of fun. his name is colbyjacks mackadoodle scout but i never sent in his AKC paperwork. ill have to pay a late fee if i do now. mainly a family pet first and foremost, 2nd a bird dog in the field. i bought him for my son and drove 5 hours to get him on my sons birthday. he came from a good bloodline around here and really well mannered dogs very gentle with children and not very barkative. the guy had the whole litter sold but a guy in the gaurd got called up to Iraq. he sold me the pup for $100, and the army guy got pick of the litter when he comes home. from the owners of the sire and dam. so it worked out well for everyone. sorry for all the pics but mack is a good pup and i got carried away..... lol -chris
