When backpacking, how do you store your tent stakes?

Not that I've had a problem yet, but it just seems that having a semi-sharp piece of aluminum in a lightweight pack (next to a thin walled tent) is just asking for something to get punctured.

Cut the top out of a 20 oz plastic bottle.

all of the ones I've had that come with the tent, are the same thin-walled nylon material, so not really any protection.

the bottle top idea is a good one.

This. Place your stakes lengthwise in your tend bag, the tension will keep them from puncturing anything.

Wrap the pointy ends with a ranger band using a long enough band that plenty extends past the end and can be folded over.

I make my own stake bags with the bottom 1.5" inch being 3 layers thick and double stitched.

If you know someone with a sewing machine, borrow it and then click this link. -->  https://ripstopbytheroll.com/

How about this it's easy have my Cub scouts do it take duct tape lay about 4 inches stick side up take the sharp tips place on the stick side  of tape a out half way down now take other side of tape and fold it up.

If you wan run a few more strips of tape along the bottom. Roll up place in tent stake bag. Now the kids kind of have a sheath for there stakes will not lose them if they have to set up in low light.

Just an easy simple idea that's cheap.
