Neat..

On the west coast they are a red variation and called snow plants because when the snow melts, that is when they grow.

OP, I have always heard it called "Bear Corn" here in VA. It is all over our mountains. Strangely, I have never once seen it anywhere in the central VA area.

I found it in the National Park.  I've hunted the valley and the western mountains for years, but never noticed this before.

Bear Corn, hmm.  I wonder if I can convince the bears to eat that instead of the corn in my feeder
