Next time I go camping I need a cheap, DIY method for brewing a can of Folgers each morning. Suggestions?

Cowboy coffee. Dump grounds into boiling water, let steep for ~5-10 minutes. Strain grounds or throw an eggshell into the pot to make grounds settle.

I use the instant mix dehydrated stuff with hot water if I don't have electric. Tastes great and no grounds to deal with.

French Press... Just add boiling water brew and press. Does not take up a lot of space.

This is the lightest, easiest, and quickest way. A teaspoon full will make a strong cup so you can pack small amount and have coffee for a week.

Are we talking packing in or going out and pulling up to a camping site?

Packing in, the instant type coffee and hot water.

When I go into the BWCA for 7 days, I need all the space I can get and need to keep the weight under 60 pounds. I use this. GSI coffee drip for $12.

I take 2 cofffe filters per day plus fresh ground coffee vaccum sealed into individual servings to insure that it's all water tight. My coffee tastes just as good in the deep woods as it does at my kitchen counter. Did I mention it was light and compacts?

I had one of those. Kinda can't do much if the wood is wet, unless I'm an idiot and y'all know something I don't. Had to eat cold food in the rain a time or 2. I'd suggest a small JetBoil as back up.

Make yourr own teabag stile filter, coffee string boil and drop it in. For bigger batches find some filters for commercial machines.

I carry some Esbit cubes as plan B if it's wet.

Aeropress works well if weight and space is a concern and you are a coffee elitist Some people swear by them as the best way to make coffee, period. It's kind of a pain to me to try to make it in the morning when my brain is not working, so I don't use it much. Check youtube for some videos of it.

car camping- I have a thermos brand insulated french press that I like.

really lighweight/ low hassle is the Starbucks via instant coffee. It is really good, good enough to serve to coffee lovers, and is about .50 per cup when bought on sale at costco. The tasters choice 100% columbian that walmart sells isn't terrible, but it's not what I would call good coffee either. But if you're going to add cream and sugar anyway, you might get by with it. It is about half the cost of the vias. My afternoon ritual is to heat 16 ounces of water, mix in two of the aforementioned tasters choice packs, and a pack of hot cocoa mix. It makes a decent mocha.

I ordered a gsi coffe drip and will be using it next week. It's bigger, in a good way, than I thought it would be. This thing will easily accept 3-4 cups, if not more, of boiling water and the base is big enough to sit over a small pot or cup. I'll report back with how it does.
