French press usually when camping.  I use an Aeropress when hunting from a base camp, or the Starbucks Via packs when hunting light (actually surprisingly good for instant - just add hot water and you are good to go).

I haven't tried this, but wondering if it would work

Can I just get some water good and hot

Put some coffee grounds in a coffee filter

tie the filter off at the top with a 40 lb braided fishing line

and bob that coffee bag in the hot water for a bit?

That sounds like a lot more effort than Via.

But the answer is yes, it will work. It may take more than "a bit" of "bobbing,'" lol, but it will work. I've cut down coffee filters in the past and thrown in a spoonful of coffee, tied it off with a rubber band and thrown it in a can full of boiling water.

Starbucks via.  No grounds to clean up, no extra crap to carry - just boil, pour, stir, and drink.

I use french presses, percolators, or stove top espresso makers if I'm camping out of a car, but the starbucks instant is the way to go if backpacking.

When I'm backpacking I use the folgers singles that look like tea bags.
I used those before Via came out.  They worked pretty well too, I just like the taste of Via better.

Do the via taste like regular starbucks coffee?
I always like their latte type drinks but their regular coffee always taste like its been cooking for 18 hours on a high flame

Aeropress.

Same as indoors.

Uses a lot of coffee, however.

I really enjoy coffee, and the Aeropress is my go to.

They have different types, but try a medium roast if you don't like the dark roasts.

I use a percolator when camping with family or friends. If it's a sole trip or backpacking I just run hot water through the coffee into some kind of cup without carrying the weight
