Colorado, San Juan Mts.
Hike up the Big Blue creek and camp the first day at about 10k at Slide Lake. Continue up to about 12.5k and camp where the left side of the valley juts in. Right at the foot of Silver mt (13k). This is base camp. From there, you can do a day hike to Uncompaghre. Then another day hike, though a bad ass, to Matterhorn and Wetterhorn. In just a few days you can bag two of Colorado's 14ers.
Then go party it up in Lake City. It's a small town, but the bar there is a nice relaxing place. The last time I went there, I had been gone for three years. Locals came in and recognized me and we had a great time.
Wyoming/Montana border. Go in to Granite Lake and make a loop around the west side of Granite to the Wilson lakes valley, then back down out of the alpine lakes past Hidden Lake.
Wyoming, Bighorn Mts. Go in at Hunter Corrals, loop up through Soldier park. Head toward Ant Hill and Elk Lake. Go up into the Cloud Peak drainage. Head up the left side of the valley and cross over the ridge above Mead Lake. Drop into the Florence Pass valley and head up into the pass. Cross over to the Solitude trail or just futz around at the crashed B17 site on Bomber mountain and head back down the Florence valley. Cut up to 7 Brothers and Lake Angeline.
A lot of these areas have great trails, but we go off trail. Off trail sucks donkey taint, but the rewards are worth it. Boulder hopping is your friend. If you don't like it, stay away from Wyoming.
