THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I ran into these for the first time today in the impulse section at TSC. Well, yea they got me. I picked up two small 3"x5"'s to run them through the gauntlet before I "went crazy" and stocked up. haha

As a contractor/labor junkie and an outdoorsman I always find myself outside, and minimum 4 times a day I have to write something down. I've been keeping a small pad in my pocket for as long as I can remember, but as you would imagine they don't last long. Ill get through maybe 1/3 of the pages before its trashed, mostly from moisture, be-it rain or sweat or both.

If these work out well, Ill probably include them into all my preps and start cycling out any ordinary paper. Especially in the daily/go to bags in the vehicles etc.

Searching their website I found some interesting stuff, I've got a keen eye on their fisherman's journal. Heres a link to their site - Rite in the Rain

I cant testify to their product yet, but it seems incredibly useful and I just thought I would share. If theres a group of guys anywhere out there that needs the ability to write in wet conditions, I figured they'd be in here.

I did run it under the faucet, and then wrote on it just fine with an ordinary pen and pencil. I was showing the SO, "Hey check this out, its paper that can get wet!" As I put it under the faucet she starts laughing hysterically at me, telling me I just ruined my new pad, so while it was dripping wet I wrote HAHAHA on the page. Then she was all like, "What!?!? Let me see that thing!" Eh, it was a fun moment.

If you've got any input on, or experience with the product please share!

I work in swamps and wetlands, in all weather conditions - these are all we use to record all our data. There is nothing better.

They work fine. Pair them with a space pen.

ETA:

The cheap place to purchase rite in rain pads (and space pens) that I have found is at the local University book store. Our local store has maybe 20 different sizes. The students use them for field work.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

I can't tell you how many times Ive just dunked it in the cooler now. Everyone I encounter (at work) wants to see it for themselves, it even won me a dollar, a lunch and a beer!

I feel confident in their product now, no question. Dare I say, necessity.

I enjoy their quality, but I have a hell of a time finding pens that will lay down ink on that paper. I've been using pencil, but find that it rubs away fairly quickly.

Check out Moleskine products as well. Not waterproof, but they make a great notepad.

they recently increased their line by quite a bit. A bunch of new specialized manuals and books for many types of outdoorsman, .mil, emergency responders, first responders etc.

Good stuff, been using the RiR pads and the space pen combo for a couple years.

I always have one on me during the week, they work exactly as advertised. My favorite companion pen is a Zebra 701 with a Space Pen refill in it.

FYI if you write on them with pencil and go to erase what you wrote it will removing the waterproofing for that part of the paper as well.

I use them at work as a police officer. Paired with Zebra pen. Use Fisher Stowaway for camping (5g weight). Its a heavy pad with few pages for the money, but its the best pad.

Several years ago I accidentally left my notepad in the cargo pocket of my BDU pants and put them through the washer. It made a believer out of me when I couldn't even tell it had been wet, much less washed.

I have a few from my last deployment. It rained once the whole time, and I keep my notepad in a non-sweaty pocket, so I kept them for a rainy day.

+1 on the F701 w/ space pen refill. It'll write on anything.

I have been using them for several years w/ no issues. Used to use a Space Pen insert, but quit because they don't hold much ink. Just the regular ink does OK for me, even if it isn't quite as good. Don't know how much longer I will be using them, I guess they have discontinued the size I use.

They are essential for working in the field for me, work best with a pencil. In real heavy rain they will get water-logged, but for the most part, they work great.
