For whatever reason I'm wanting to get on of the Mitchell's "Tanker" Mauser's in 243.  Maybe 270 or 308.

I log onto Mitchell's and they're a thing of the past.

Do I just have to get lucky on Gun Broker or is someone else importing them now?

A FR8 will get you better sights in the same size. Mine shoots 3moa with Port surplus and iron sights.

It's a wonder Zastava doesn't have a regular US distributor.

Agreed, I think their AK pattern rifles are still imported right?! Surely they can still make mausers I would think.

Lol, at Mitchells. With all the people they've scammed with their re-stamps that would be the last place I ever bought a Mauser.

Unfortunately Mitchells was the only vendor for the Yugo tanker mausers.  They were new production mausers made specifically for Mitchells if i remember right.

Yeah- this isn't about historical accuracy.  I wanted a soft shooting, handy, light recoil, iron sighted, bolt gun.

The tanker mauser seemed a good fit.  FR-8 would work too but the price point seems similar now and I preferred the idea of the M63 (points for bent bolt handle)

thin pickings in that category.  Maybe a Remington 600

Don't forget the Czechs made a short carbine for the Persians/Iranians.

Well short and portable it is NOT soft recoiling esp. with full power 7.92x57 JS.

Any idea why zastava does not have a US distributor or a "zastava us" company?
