Fucking Sharpie works like a champ. Mark it with a battle roster number so everybody knows you're high speed.

Steel punch set. Small, looks factory, and if I really need to spot them, they get a rap of yellow electrical tape.

Hobby Lobby sells paint pens for about $1 each. They will mark just about anything.

And follow Click's link. It's a good thread. number your mags so you can identify them

On the older ones I scratched my name into the blank where the window would have been (non windowed mags).

On the newer ones without that space I just use a Sharpie.

I use pink and orange tie-dyed duct tape. So far, no one has taken any.

I wrap around the mag for 5.56 and a strip over the end for 5.4 mags to make them easily identifiable. In theory, this could be done with some other color duct tape.

What stencil did you use for those? Looks badass!

I use a $2 stencil from Hobby Lobby and black or tan matte rattle can paint.

Spray painted initials on one side, mag # on the other side. For quick ID, many of my mags have colored electrical tape wrapping. None of that takes too long per mag. I just finished painting my mix of 50 or so P & GI mags, so that took a while. Still have a dozen or two to tape stripe, then it's on to pistol mags.

I must be super-low speed, because I have no idea what a battle roster number is...

Sharpie works for me... Looking at the steel punch set though, that's pretty cool looking...

+1 for enamel paint pen, though I also use colored duct tape.
Mag number goes on the floor plate, and a wrap of half wide colored tape tells what ammo it's loaded with (brown; factory loaded (with additional color band to note bullet weight), od green; 62gr reloads, red; 55gr reloads, blue; 68gr match reloads, white; 55gr soft point reloads).

I use a sharpie in silver. I have found those to be handy as hell for marking all sorts of EBR and kydex gear. Really shows up on black.

A battle roster number is a number used in some military units to identify unit members on different types of mission manifests. Usually it is something like the member’s initials followed by their last four digits of the SSN. A battle roster number might be something like “DLG0186,” but the exact format varies. Sometimes people would use their battle roster to mark gear.

Well, at some point people decided it was a cool “operator” thing to prominently mark up your gear with your battle roster, so that the pogues and fobbits in the DFAC and at the PX would know that you were a highspeed motherfucker. Kind of like putting your bloodtype on your boots, IOTV, sleeves, etc. I’ve seen guys who don’t even have an assigned battle roster number make one up to mark their stuff.

The paint comes off very easily with a squirt of Brakeclean and wiping it off with a rag. I use white ones. It makes it easier to know what ammo is in the mag if you mark it. I don't shoot the same ammo in all of my ARs. My 18" Sabre Defense gun likes 77grn stuff, my Noveske Afghan likes 75grn. I shoot Wolf in some of my chrome lined barrels, but my AR pistol doesn't run as well on Wolf as it does on XM193. I also like Pmags a lot more than GI mags because they're easier to load and never seem to malfunction.

If I was concerned about them getting mixed up with someone elses, I'd engraved them. Probably with a soldering iron and put my initials on them somewhere.

I carved my last name into the flat part that goes inside the magwell. Paint wears off and POG asshats love to steal Pmags. I carved my battle roster into my Oakleys under the rubber part on the arms. TWICE I have locked up idiots for trying to swipe my glasses.
