I'm putting together my own shooting range out to 25yds. The range will be used for small and large pistol, AR's and 22 cal. rifle. I was looking for ideas on layouts, racks/stands/ targets and anything else relatyed to this topic. If you have any pic's that would be even better and greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The NRA has a book on creating a range. It has a ton of information in it. I have seen one, but not sure where they ordered it. You might want to give the NRA a call and see if you can get one.

Use a post hole digger and drive stakes into the ground. Go to the local tire place and get the old tires they don't want. Stack these on top of your stakes/poles and fill them with dirt as you stack. Go as tall and wide as you can, stack logs behind it or whatever for some extra protection. I have seen a 30.06 go through this set up at fairly close range, so unless you have a natural hill or something behind your set up, you will want to double layer these or something, just in case.

These guys make some good bullet traps for that application.

Find a quarry/cement plant/coal terminal close to you and see if they sale used belting. Our gun club sets railroad ties as the posts then we stretch the belting between the ties. Works great, we use the widest belt we can get from where I work, sometimes two strips tall (usually comes in 36/42/48 inch widths). Just just staple your targets to the belting....works great.
