Does anyone run a Designated Marksman-type class?

I know Suarez runs a "Guerrilla Sniper" course, and it looks like something I'd be interested in, but it's in Arizona. I'm looking for something more in my neck of the woods (like a reasonable drive from TN). I don't want to ship my rifle/ammo (if I flew) nor do I want to drive 2-3 days both ways.

I'm not really looking for an uber-sniper, bolt-gun-at-1000-meters course. More of a semi-auto (Saiga .308?) course that shoots out to maybe 600-700 meters with marksmanship above grunt level but not quite Carlos Hathcock either!

Any ideas?

Hmmm....looks interesting. Thanks for the link. I may have to see if they're having one a little later, like March or April.

I think Gabe Suarez's "Guerilla Sniper" class or whatever he calls it would fit the bill.

Yes, it absolutely would––-but I'm not driving all the way to Arizona. See my OP.

Suarez has done classes here in the east (I've been to 2 of them) but the Guerrilla Sniper class ain't one of them. I think it has something to do with an acceptable AO to shoot at that will allow 600-800yd shooting, at least according to Randy Harris.

Sorry. Was in a hurry and thought I'd help.

IIRC, he's teaching a "Spetsnaz Sniper" course in Kansas at some point. Might be closer for ya?

You could try Tactical Response sniper course. My friend has taken it two times once with a 6.8spc ar and the second time with a 308 bolt gun. I think the longest shot is 780yrds? The nice thing is they are in TN.

Check it out might be what you are looking for.

If you want to learn how to use a sniper rifle, attend a class at Bandlands Tactical located in Grandfield, Oklahoma.

We have this going on in LA.

We have invited Suarez International to teach their Designated Marksman Rifle Course for us. The class will be taught at Southern Shooting Center, in Thibodaux, LA, February 12-14, The Designated Marksman Rifle Course is a highly condensed version of the exact course taught by the US Army to our soldiers. It is taught by an actual Squad Designated Marksman with recent deployment experience. The US Army's course is designed to hone a Soldier's ability to accurately shoot at distances to 300 meters and beyond. We will do likewise in this course.

As part of the training, attendes will learn caveman ballistics, hone fundamentals, learn range estimation, shooting small and partially concealed targets to 300 meters, CQB with Designated Marksman Rifle, fundamentals of combat rifle marksmanship and other operational issues.

This link will give you more details and allow you to sign up for the class.

Check to see if there is Appleseed shoot in your area. Good training IMO and you can't beat the cost.
